Default damn subaru dealer

i took my car in to get the transmission checked...it grinds A LOT going into first gear, and hops out under low stress not high which is what theyh checked for but...

i took it there and theyre saying there is nothing wrong with it
<my warranty is almost up.,.hmm imagine that...>

is there anyway i can tell them to open it up and look at it, cause i mean one time it ground for a good 3 seconds, at idle at a stop light...that alone couldnt have been good for the damned thing

plz respond im getting more confused as the days pass

alex

Sounds like your 1st gear synchro is going out.

Once you hear grinding, you should stop trying to put it into gear, drop into neutral, let the clutch out, push the clutch in, and try again.

Some NEO RHD gear oil might help, but will cost you about $50-60 for enough oil for the tranny and rear-end.

Did it do it for them when they drove it? I took the tech out and showed him what it did. Take them out and show them. Get your point across. just my .02

yup, if they can't duplicate it, then they have nothing to fix

if it's intermittent, then cross ur fingers and and hope u can duplicate it for them

as for the warranty expiring, don't worry too much bout it, as long as you can get them to document that there's a problem, they'll have to warranty it, even if you're warranty expire

muhahah awesome

i did take the tech w/ me and hes like "youre driving this too nicely" and i was like OHHH? he told me about how moving the gear fork too slowly can cause problems for the dogs meshing or something like that...sounded believable...but i did take him for a ride and it only ground once, and like a split second and i mlike yeah normally thatd be a 1-2 second grind and he didnt seem that concerned

*sigh* who knows im going to take it there this weekend and leave it over the weekend and tell them i want it fixed

Do you have another dealer near you? Take it to them. Does it do it more at one time than another? Hope you can get it fixed! good luck
