Default Holy Waiting list Batman!

Well my salesman at Van Bortel called me back. I was in and test drove a 04 WRX about a month ago. He lets me know my WRB 04 WRX is in. Say what? Apparently he put in a buyers request for one. I never asked for one to be ordered. /shrug. It will get sold on the lot. So I ask about the STi waiting list. 95 strong. And I know why, Van Bortel has all cars 400 over invoice. That puts a new STi at $29,600. He said unless a mojor portion of the people back out, I'd be looking at April or May and an 05 model.

Damnit Subaru, make more!

Last week, as I was waiting for our Evo 8 to arrive, I stopped by Fitzgerald Subaru in Maryland, they had a blue/silver one on the showroom. I asked the price, they said we only sell at MSRP; and I grabed it and canceled the Evo

I truly had a great experience buying from them second time in a row.

Hi Luke,

Who are you going to believe? A person who actually works at the dealership and sees the list or someone on a forum making up stories and trying to freak you out? :-)

Theresa

Theresa,

I'm sorry to keep bothering you but I keep hearing that your waiting list for the STi is 90 people strong. Is there any truth to this? The 90 people waiting list number has been mentioned on the various Subaru forums even before I ordered mine. I know you told me it's around 20 people but I keep seeing this pop up about once a week or so and it's starting to freak me out.

Here's a recent thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=406500

Roseville Subaru (near Sacramento) has like 3-4 STi's, Auburn Subaru has one or two STi's. Both selling at or below MSRP.

Of course this is in California... but a waiting list seems crazy...

But so does paying $9k over MSRP for an EVO... (which they were doing here in town a few months ago). Now they will take MSRP or less.

Funny thing is... both the Mits dealer (about 8 on the lot) and Subaru dealer still have $6k markups on the window AND will not let anyone test drive.

When you have 8 cars on the lot and can not sell them... I would think a test drive would help you move them. But what do I know.

Look elsewhere, i'm sure you can find one. My local dealer had a WRB STi last week that wasn't promised to anyone. I am sure its gone by now though.
