Have a Nice Day? Are you bored with your STI yet,...then stop complaining.....

Today I went back and read some post from the first night I drove my STI !! Wow ,..It sounded like I was 12 losing my virginity !!
I was out of control with happiness,........

NO,.I am not bored,.but some of the post,..with people complaining about this and that,..just makes me want to throw up,....how easily we forget,.how much we wanted this thing.
I still sometimes, go downstairs,..in the middle of the night and sit in it,...and turn the key, and watch the gauges sweep,.thinking back to when I sat in the car at the auto show, and dreamed of starting it up and jumpin' off the stage and how much time I would have to do for grand theft and reckless endangerment !!

I look at some of the post and questions to Paul Hansen that were major insight on what to expect,..and think about it,.....WE ALL had NO Clue this thing was gonna be this great !!! NO CLUE I say,.....

I went to a Subaru meet this past weekend, and there was a black STI there. The thing was soooooo dirty abd neglected..I thought to myself,...." there's no way dude would let one drop of water, let alone dirt get on that car when it was new-new. Now, it's like,..what-everrrrrrr.

So lets not forget to show your STI some love,..give em' some 94 octane,..maybe an occasional 100 octane fill up( $$$$)Wash her up ,and clean between those gold spokes,.( some silver) And one day out of the week, instead of bouncing off the rev limiter,..just take it easy,..use no boost,..just short shift her, and pat the dash, and tell her,..." who loves you babee?".......................just
dont be surprised when she says back,....." Sunoco 100 octane"

Look, if you're going to be a grownup, you can just go somewhere else and play!

Seriously, though. This board exists, for the most part, for people to swap information about tuning and uh, "enhancing" their cars. To each their own.

But I also know exactly how you feel. I posted something similar about the WRX, which I still think is a fabulous car. We waited and waited, and couldn't believe that we got something as nice as the WRX, for the price that it is. I can't even imagine having something as potent as an STi to drive around every day. I haven't even power modded my WRX. Why? The threads about getting more power from the STi just boggle my mind.

Good luck, and enjoy the car.

You already know the answer. One of the main reason people traded there WRX for an STi was more power, which is the same reason they power mod the WRX, which is the same reason they want to power mod the STi. Sure, it's a fun car as-is. More power = more fun. I like the idea of a 400hp STi. Computer, upgrade IC, mild upgrade turbo, TBE, adn better intake should do it.

Good post and very true... but I'm certainly not taking my car for granted! I too remember seeing the car at the auto show and wondering how great it would be, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah... Well, I'm still not over that feeling and I've had my car 2 months now. Just washed it up today and am planning some mods for the fall season. This is a great car and I have NOTHING to complain about and neither should anyone else.

I really liked the original post. It resonates with me in a weird way...

I've had my STi for a month and I've barely put 380 miles on it...
it's spent a majority of its time in storage because I've been too busy to take it out (since taking it out requires me to wash it and have it back in storage and getting it in there without hitting anything is a major pain, it's really not worth doing except on weekends and with work the way it is lately I've been too tired to do even that).

It's weird because I haven't even experienced the power the car has to offer (still breakin' her in) and since I mostly ride around in my roomate's old Nissan it's like I don't even have the car.

But it still gives me the warm fuzzies to know that the car is there when I want it...work won't last forever, fortunately, and soon enough I'll be out of that break-in period and will be able to spend some time cruising the highways.

Is it weird to have spent that kind of money on a car that I rarely have the urge to drive? Perhaps, but I wasn't expecting my life to change just because I got a shiny sports car...and it didn't. And that's ok with me.

Everyone was warned about the black STi gettin' dirty! Anyway some obsess too much on appearance. I had a friend at work tell me there was dirt on the passenger side carpet! It wasn't my black STi at the meet however, but I must defend. Washing the car too much breaks down the wax, then ya gotta wax it again. Besides it's been raining almost everyday here in the valley, so it's kinda a waste to wash the car unless sunny days are coming. ...And the wheels~heh, I wanted gunmetal.
When it comes to driving it that's another story altogether. It's the fastest beast I've ever owned.

There was a time when I almost decided to pass on the STi. My financial situation wasn't anything to brag about. Things looked promising so I took the STi. Boy was that the right decision. Although I've had it since 6/26 and have only put 500 miles on her, I'm still in love. I've even gone so far as to tell my g/f I love the car more than her....luckily she has a good sense of humor sometimes. Everytime I look in my garage and see her sitting there I just smile. I feel that I'm truly blessed to own a car like this. I'm proud to own her and even prouder when I take her out and see the heads turn or the 16 year old that comes up to me and is in awe and drooling(standing 10 feet from my car of course, I don't want drool on her). The current owners and future owners should take pride in this car. We have/will have an amazing machine. People say it's just a car. I disagree. This is not just a car to me and to many others. I love cars and am constantly trying to learn all I can and am really starting to do my own work on them. What bothers me are those that make fun of me because I love cars so much, especially the STi. How can they ridicule me for having a passion? Keep your heads held high guys/gals and enjoy the car. Go outside right now and take a look at what u own and smile. I feel like this is the best car I will ever own and I will live each day cherishing my STi and making sure she knows it. ~Nick

I agree with the original post exactly. I still have to stop and look at the car for a few minutes when I go into the garage for something.

So many things in life are that way though. When you want something and then you get it, it's a great feeling. So we always want to repeat that feeling and that's why when you get something new your happy with it for X amount of time, but then you always look towards something else, I guess it's just human nature.

I was thinking the same thing the other day when I was driving the STi......I'm satisfied with this car and I wouldn't want anything else I could afford right now......we'll see when the STi2 comes out what happens!

Make sure you keep the gold wheels clean, they can get dull looking quite easily after couple of laps on the track or just driving.

Again though... it's just a car...

I'm still enjoying my 2001 RS. Color me weird.

I'd really like to have the STi, but I can't see parting with my RS. And there's no room in my bank balance for both.

Besides, I want to get a truck (just a beater), so there'd be no room for a third vehicle in my garage.

Well,, let me clear this up right now! I was at the meet mentioned above,,and Miles car(944 turbo guy) had a small smudge of dirt just below his rear tag,I would have mentioned it to him but i was afraid he would go "postal" on me j/k Miles good post.

Rudy

ps ,,BTW,,, I talked to the guy with the dirty black STi at the meet,,he apologized fr the car being filthy,,He explained that he works fr Verizon who are presently threatening to go out on strike and he is grabbing all the hours he can so he hasnt had time to keep his baby clean.

I washed my car yesterday and my roommate was like "didn't you just wash your car couple days ago??" I like the car and I can't stand it when it's dirty (java black pearl). I used to complain a lot on body roll and handling, too but after spending more time behind the wheel, I kind of getting the "feel" on how to drive the car now.

Well, I wish it could be that easy. Still trying to stay on the right line, travelling at moderate speed instead of going sideway through tight turns. Need more traction... oh I'm complaining again. Maybe those roads are too tight for this car.

Oh man. I was so close to buying my STi today. Im in remorse mode right now but I have to wait a little longer. It's the only car I've truly lusted after. I'll see a car and be like oh yea it'd be nice to have that, but with the STi, it is a I MUST HAVE frankenstein testosterone overtaking experience. Truly this wait is depressing for me. hehe
