Default Question regarding a particular sound (air sucking)

Got a quick question which some of you "modders" may be able to answer.

I'm wondering what makes the purr sound of a modded car where it sounds like its gasping for air.

I've seen it on modded supras and wrx's. Each time they shift, the car makes the sound likes it sucky for air. Rather quietly but it sounds really neat.

Is this part of the intake/exaust or some other thing.

I also saw it in the txsbov clip i think worldoneperformance or someone put out.

If it's between shifts when they get off the gas it is probably the blowoff valve.

You can hear it on this video,

I've heard different variations of it. The best sounding one so far was on a modded supra which pulled a 10.5 at the track.
