Volunteering for Mountain Trials Rally

The next BC performance rally is Mountain Trials on September 27th.

The event is being hosted out of Merritt (rally town BC).

As the new volunteer coordinator, I'm putting an early call out the forums that I frequent the most. If you've worked a rally before, or would like to come join the fun, send me your contact details using peter @ rallybc . com (without the spaces, naturally).

If you have questions, theres a public forum available at http://www.totalautosport.com/forums

You have to register to post but over the next few weeks most of the information anyone would need will be posted there. There's a simple breakdown of what's involved there already.

This is a slightly smaller (more compact) event than the the National in June, although the competition will be just as fierce. The sooner you volunteer the bigger chance you have of securing the assignment you want.

After all, you'll be going anyway to chear on a fellow Vancouver I-clubber who's competing in his first ever performance rally, in a brand new rally car.

If you want to film, make sure you mention that when you request a job prosition. Working a specatator area is not very good because you cannot be filming and keeping an eye on the spectators. However, a road closure is usually ok because you and your buddy should be the only ones there.

Hi Petrie,
Do you need volunteers for the 25- 26th Sept (Thursday Friday before race)? If so let me know.

I'm not sure that we need people on the Thursday this time. If it was a National event we would, but probably not for this event.

Friday is a definite yes. Friday needs people in town for administrative duties; registration, scruitineering, rally HQ setup, equipment preparation etc.

People are also needed out on the stages to get some of the prep work done. There's roads that need bannering, spectator areas that need bannering etc.

All of these are jobs that don't require much training or experience but they are important jobs that help the rally to start on time, and run to schedule.

I'll ask the rally master if he needs anyone on the Thursday but Friday is a certain yes please.

I've just got back from an organizer meeting and the route looks really good and compact.
