Default UTEC MAP off?

Im having a little trouble with my UTEC, when in the dashboard and the logger its showing 16.7psi in 4th, full throttle..

but my built in boost gauge reads much less, like .105 mpa which if im not mistaken is like 15.0psi

just wondering if i should trust the reading of my stock boost gauge, or the utec... im sure I should trust the mechanical boost gauge, but i want a second opinion =P

Read the appendices in the manual. It tells you how to calibrate the UTEC to your boost gauge.

The real question is:
Which is right?
or
Which is more right?

I seen a lot of posts of people saying that their boost gauge reads anywhere from 1-3 psi different than their utec.

That's exactly what I'm seeing. What's right? Gauge or UTEC?

If you are at higher altitudes these values should be different as the UTEC reads MAP sensor pressure which is in absolute and the gauge reads relative pressure which changes based on your altitude.

If you are at sealevel and they are off by more than a little I would go to a third party source to see which is more accurate. If I had to choose between the two I would usually trust the MAP sensor as hose kinks, etc will really affect a boost gauge.

I would trust the UTEC before you trust your gauge. I would say that 8-10 cars that show up for dyno tuning have inaccurate boost gauges. The UTEC which uses the factory MAP sensor has been very close to our dyno readings. Your logger also reads in abosulte pressure and not gauge.

If you decide that I'm wrong and want to trust your boost gauge, just remember that the UTEC could care less what your gauge says and will run the load site as it relates to what it sees.

Thanks,
Phil
