Default A challenge to all subie wrenches

I have been pulling some serious dedicated hours at getting my car going agian. What i have is this, A car that starts then shuts off. I can turn the key, it fires up & reaches about 2000RPM then turns off. It will do this every single time that i start it.I've checked fuel press. Its good at 38-40Lbs. all appears well, this is after long block 7 clutch replacement
I lost the rings in my stock motor. I was running a uni-chip, set up for M2 TMIC,uppipe, turbo back, mrt cai,Sti injectors & fuel rails.
I switched to APS R/T spec. I figure basicly similar as for as Uni-chip tune. Only major change being the FMIC From Tmic. Could it just be the tune differences that are causing my car to shut off.
If you think that you might be able to help, give me a call. iwill explain better. Thanks & please help me get some sleep. Thanks, Vince....(707) 280-8090

Unplug the MAF sensor, start it, see if it idles. If so, there is maybe be a leak somewhere in your intake (FMIC piping) system.
Do you get a CEL? If so what is it?

Yeah I unplugged the MAF sensor & the whole car freeked out. it was like the battery was dead. The fuel pump started to half run & relays were clicking on & off. it all stopped when I plugged it back in. No cel as it only stays on for abot 1 sec.

Wacky.
You might still have a code in the ECU.
If you have an OBDII reader check it out as it might give a clue as to what isn't working right.
I'm certainly no expert but one of the things that can kill the car right away with a FMIC is a leak, hence the MAF test.
The car should idle, but it doesn't, so off looking somewhere else.
Since you have had the whole engine out, it could be anywhere from fuel to vacuum lines.
Do you still have your TGVs?
If so, when you put the sensors back in did you make sure they were wound up?
There is a spring in each sensor, I could see all of them being unsprung causing the car not to idle at all, but this is just reaching.
Double-check all the lines, hoses, intake connections, etc.
It certainly is frustrating to put it all back together and have it not work, especially with some many little things to go wrong.

Wacky, is for sure the word. When it starts it sounds perfect. Smooth rumble then poof nothing. I'll check all the lines once more. hopefully a little sleep & some food will open my eyes.

Well maybe someone can tell me, should the MAF sensor spark on the housing of my cold air intake? or does that mean that it has a shorted out circuit? at anyrate, if I pull off the plug connector from the MAF sensor The car freaks a bit. The fuel pump turns on, the dash gauges read crazy, like low fuel light comes on, fuel gauge goes to empty. When I try to remove the sensor with the harness attached the screw sparks & sends things into that wacky mode that i described before. What do you Know?

I'm no expert on this, but have you hacked your wiring harness? Could you have a loose/poor connection or even worse a wrong connection?

Your problem almost sounds like the ECU can't sort the engine info out.

Best wishes.

Uhhh, yeah, sparkage is bad, mmmkay? Sounds like there is a short in teh sensor plug. Replacing it will require some more harness splicing probably. Try going to RCSR for a new plug.
