Yeah, that's about right.

That sucks, sorry to hear about the breakin.

How do you know the lock was pried out? If there is no cosmetic damage I highly doubt that is the way they got in.

Typically they pull the remote trunk release cable from somewhere outside the car. What worries me is that the Impreza used to be so uncommon that nobody knew how to break into one. Guess that situation is changing fast after the introduction of the "hey look at me" RS.

If they did break in through the remote trunk release cable, that can be prevented by setting the striker to "CANCEL". Of course then you don't get to use the trunk release. You can also get an aftermarket electrical unit which the theif would be less familiar with.

BTW you don't even WANT to know how insecure the doors and windows are on this car...

I dunno...I locked my keys in the car once and they had to call in the Locksmith who had every frickin "slim-jim" tool that ever existed (looked like) and worked on the lock for about 30 min or so before he could get it to budge.

My guess is the locksmith was simply unfamiliar with the car. If you know where things are in the door (which are visible when you take off the interior trim to install speakers, etc.) -- it is quite easy to use a slim jim to pop the lock.
