Default Any New Orleans (or thereabouts) STi's?...

Howdy -- I've been trolling the boards for a few months now and have decided to finally register an account =). I am looking at getting an STi in a little under a year, and am wondering if there is anybody with an STi on the forums that lives in or around New Orleans? I know that there is large East Coast representation here, but I haven't seen many from my neck of the woods. I've only ever seen one STi on the road in New Orleans, and there's only one (silver / silver) on the lot at the local Subaru dealership. Hopefully there's somebody out there close enough to maybe meet up with me sometime and show me all the bells and whistles, as access to STi's here is scarce =).

It may take sometime because I'm from there and I had the first RS and knew of 2 others. I don't believe many people know of it(Sti) nor interested.

I've driven throughout the GNO and haven't seen too many exotics. That place is very different when comparing car enthusiasm to west coast(Cali).

Buy one an enjoy.

Well, there actually is a little bit more Exotic enthusiasm in New Orleans than first meets the eye. My brother, the one with the 350Z, runs with the Ferrari club every weekend, and those guys are some high rollers. Especially Jim Spiro, whose 330 Testarossa (the only one in existence, it won Le Mans in 1962, driven by Phil Hill) is one of if not the most expensive car ever purchased at 6.5 million dollars off the auction block. So, there may actually be a bit more of that here than one may think. Granted, not nearly as much as on the west coast .

Subaru, especially STi interest, however, is a different story. So much so, in fact, that in the years since the WRX hit the US market, I can only recall ever seeing about 3 sedans and 3 wagons TOTAL on the road. Probably 4 of these were in the last year. Simply put, Subaru and namely WRX / STi sightings are simply NOT a common occurence in New Orleans. There sure isn't a shortage of V6 Auto Mustangs with 190 rwhp and 24" chrome rims that keep spinning around here though . I guess the reason the market for STis is so very tiny in New Orleans has a lot to do with the type of people that are drawn to this city, and the type of cars those people generally like. As you can probably guess, STis and Subarus in general are not exactly the car of choice for this type of person.

I guess it may be cool that, when I actually do get my STi, I'll pretty much be the only one with an STi no matter where I go in the city. Right now, however, when I'm at the point where I actually want to see one in action, it's a bit tough to do that .
