Question MAP calibration in a UTEC?

Hi,

My MAP reading in my UTEC logs always read a little higher than my boost gauge.

I will see values around 15.9 or 16.1psi in the log, but my boost gauge doesn't seem to go much over 1kg/cm^2 (14.6psi). Now, it's only a 52mm gauge, and 1.4-106psi would only be about 2mm right of 1.0, but I think I'd notice it.

I've got a Greddy electronic boost gauge, installed with the included 1/8" 3-way connector. I had to use clamps to hold the factory 3/8" bpv hoses onto the Greddy T. My UTEC is in "gauge" mode, rather than "absolute" mode under MAP display under User Constants.

I initially calibrated MAP using the values on my boost gauge, but my tuner figured that would not be accurate so we reverted it to the defaults of 204 and 244. My values when I calibrated were 190 and 223, if I recall, though they are not in front of me right now.

It runs strong, and I've not had a chance to get accurate acceleration numbers on it

Anyway, which is likely to be more accurate? Has anyone had to change the calibration settings on their UTEC to get it to read accurately? Or is my gauge more likely to be slightly inaccurate?

Any answers would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

Sean

Sean. Go by the Utec logs. Greddy Electronic gauges are always a bit off from the Map sensor in the engine. I have the same gauge and I have noticed this as well. You could change your map settings on the Utec to try to correct this but keep in mind the Utec is tuned for the map settings. Changing those settings will change the load row.

I have an AVCR that reads boost, a greddy gauge and the ECU AND the utec and all three read a bit different.

Thanks Clark,

I had e-mailed Phil as well, since he read that we'd solved all the issues I'd had when you tuned her up. He indicated the same thing, and that's fine with me. I more or less figured that was the case, I just wanted confirmation.

Thanks again, and I hope you're feeling better (saw you saying you were sick in another post somewhere...).

Sounds good man. Let me know if you need anything else. Yes. I came down with a nasty cold/flu. On the way to getting better though...

Well, when you get a chance, take a look in your PMs. I asked a couple there.
