Default Any Interest? HUGE Meet.

MODS: Can I get a sticky?

Alright, guys, meets and drives are a blast, but usually the group is the same group and we don't usually get a chance to meet a lot of people that are out of our immediate area.

I know other clubs/groups have done huge meets before, and they were both fun and successful. I'm wondering if you guys would want to have a CA, or USA meet in a cool city like Vegas or something?

There's a TON of stuff to do in Vegas for the 18 and up crowd. If we planned the trip during the week, room rates are insanely low (and we might be able to hook up a group deal) and on the weekend people could even share rooms to save some money.

There is a track in Vegas so we could have a track day, we could hang out at some of the cool theme parks like at the Circus Circus, we could drink, gamble and basically just have a week of debauchery.

What do you think? We could all caravan out there too. It's not a bad drive at all ( unless you're in a Chevy Cavalier :monkey: ) and we could even plan a touristy drive with cool roads and stuff to see along the way.

What do you think?! If there is enough interest, I'd be willing to help plan it with another person and we could make sure we stay in a great hotel on a weekend where it should be relatively slow. Maybe we could get magazine coverage or something if we go big enough

how about someplace comfortable....Pismo Beach or something.

Have a norcal/socal meet...folks from nevada aren't too far.

If you guys are into tats I could hook that up at Mothership Tattoo in Pismo...my girlfriends brother works there...He can probably session all weekend. I have shown my shoulder to tattoo artist and they have said...damn dude I'm jealous. He's sick.

I'd plan on next year probably between April and June. A weekend would probably work best for everyone. I'm totally open to suggestions outside of Vegas. My only concern is that with a place like Pismo Beach, or Morro Bay (suggested on i-club), there isn't much to do (as far as I know). I mean, it would be really nice, and we could hang out during the day, but other than some nice beaches what would we do? I'm sure we wouldn't all be interested in checking out art galleries or antique shops.

If we can find a place relatively close (days drive or so), we could leave Friday, party Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and maybe come home Monday. As long as there is a lot of different things to do for everyone - we don't all need be in a group the whole time, we can branch off or whatever.

Vegas is cool because there is a track there that we could get time on plus other cool stuff in and out of the casinos.

Sounds great.

my priorities for a locale:

Track time
Night life

Don't know about the rest of you but I've got a kid so if I get away for a weekend there's hell to pay, socially that is. Party.

if you're gonna go away, it has to be worth it

We could DEFINITELY make it worth it on the party scene in Vegas. I made a reco on the i-club thread (for this meet) that we could try and plan it on the same weekend as the STUFF magazine casino weekend party at the Palms. It was just held last weekend, but celebs like Brooke Burke and Jenny McCarthy were supposed to have been there, along with cool concerts and stuff. Live played last weekend.

Another person suggested planning it for the same weekend as SEMA, but I'm not sure I'd want to go when that big of crowd is expected in town.

That's cool, but maybe we could do something locally in the meantime? Just to try and get the new folks (like me) into the group and seeing the cars, yada, yada..?

I still think a cruise night to somewhere locally or a donut run on Sat mornings. Something easy and cheap that can draw the locals in. Then plan the mega trip for later.

We're from a diverse background, ie; single, married, all ages and incomes. Seems like simple stuff gets the group together to share resources and have fun.

I agree with you Fair Oaks. I'm all for setting up some regular meets - to be honest, the KK meets sort of suck. I am trying to lose weight so going to a donut place isn't too helpful, and there's not much to do there.

How about this..don't jack my thread! and we'll start another to try and plan more regular stuff.

If we're going to plan a big meet we'll need some advance time for a few reasons:

- Determine a hotel
- Secure track time
- Get other regional groups involved (*IC)
- Get money together

Track and hotel will require deposits, and I do not have the money to front those costs, so we would need to determine the costs, then collect the cashola from each member based on their needs. We would probably only do track time if the cost was reasonable enough (once split between all interested parties). The deposit would only be refundable if I could get the money back. I'd also need a partner in crime - due to my future job situation things could change rapidly for me and I need someone else to share the responsibilities with, so if I or they are unavailable the show could still go on

A scheduled meet in Vegas should attract a large group of people. The MR2 and Supra guys have held huge meets in Vegas. They had autox, drag racing, show 'n shine, dyno competition, and a bunch of vendors and sponsors show up. People came from as far as the east coast for those meets.

I know organizing something like this is out of the question for my schedule, but I'd be more than happy to help out. I missed out on the MR2 meet when I had my MR2, so I'd really love to see this happen.

Thumbs up great idea

its a great idea to do something like this...the whole subaru community itself is pretty tight nit, but to try to pull something together on a larger scale shows how much of a subculture we really are. i guess that i'm still kinda a n00b living down in stockton, and i'm a college kid, but i'm willing to help do any organization and some of the inside management if you want my help. i got a good amount of free time on my hands, and my track record includes trying to open a cafe and majoring in bus admin, and i'm ready and willing to help out. that, and i might be able to see if i could get any hook ups, i know some people in the party organization bus and was this -> | | <- freakin close to being a sponsor of a Maxim New Year's Eve party.

just my offer of a helping hand

Alright.

Everyone has a different idea of what we should do and I had a really hard time getting many people to comment on whether or not they'd like to do this - a lot of people decided instead to offer alternative locations, which I appreciate, but none will really work with what I had/have in mind.

Here's what I'm a gonna do..

I'm going to call some hotels in Vegas:

Bellagio
NYNY
MGM Grand
Mirage
Palms

I'm going to see if they offer group rates, and if so, how many people are required to secure these group rates. I'm also going to contact the racetrack in Vegas and ask about the costs for one day of track time. I will then offer up my findings to the boards (iclub and NASIOC) with the intent of getting some people interested. The findings should include a cost break down for the track and hotel - I'll need money up front from anyone interested in order to secure deposits, as I do not have very much money just laying around.

Look for that thread in the future - hopefully within a week. If this is going to happen we need to jump on it so that if people are interested they can get the money together and plan for it in time with work and the like. I'll probably plan the trip for an arrival in Vegas on a Friday, and departure on Monday although everyone is entitled to do as they wish.

danhtao: I'll probably be pming you when I get this stuff. Thanks for your offer.

Circus Circus is the cheapest place to stay on the strip, if money is your main concern. I think in April/May the price is around $30 a room!

Would it be possible to have the hotel reserve a designated area of the parking lot for us? I'm assuming that a lot of people would be attending.

Most hotels have large parking garages. Valet is also generally free at these hotels and they should have AMPLE parking for at least one car per room. Shouldn't be a problem. My friends MR2 club had like 40 or so MR2s in Vegas and they did fine on parking.

Yes, I do remember that at the MR2 meet, the hotel where the majority of the members stayed agreed to reserve an area of the parking garage strictly for the MR2 owners. It would be pretty cool to see so many Subarus all parked in the same area.

Not sure about everyone else, but I wouldn't want to valet my car, regardless of how crappy it may be.

There was a Supra meet I went to covered in sport compact car a few months ago. Half of those guys are crazy and only have trailer-able cars THe titan 1000 HP supra showed up there, we stayed at the Egyptian hotel (the one that looks like a pyramid. DamNit! What is the name???!??) And there was a parking lot with security where they parked all the supras. None got messed with as far as I know.

Thanks, you beat me to it. I believe 2-3 hotels share that garage, and it is never beyond 60% capacity (the lot).

Basically everyone stayed at their own choice of hotels, and met at that lot for the events. They did the 1/4 at the track, Id imagine you will get less of a turnout from the AWD crowd. But there is go-karting and such...
