I have a '99 Impreza 2.5 RS Coupe. Been waiting a year for Cobb's CAI to come out, and I'm not sure if it will, so I must turn to another brand. The thing is my intake is different from the '00+
Something to do with the MAF adapter. So anyway, can you guys give me advice on some good alternative brands to Cobb Tuning. I mainly don't want to lose much low end torque at all. Thanks for any input and detail you can include.

You know you can modify the cobb to work with the MAF designed intake right?
All you need is a MAF adapter, a hacksaw, and an extra rubber intake pipe connection thingy. |

Injen's CAI is on par with Cobb's and has a unit for MAF cars.

I have the weapon-r and have not blown a maf sensor yet (cross fingers). I did make a metal brace for it so the maf does not move. It works great and sounds nice. I also discarded the dragon filter and went with a K&N.

Also, keep in mind that the Weapon-R is not a cold air intake, it's air filter is still in the engine compartment above the ABS control module. AEM is suppose to be near release of their own cold air intake, as a matter of fact some guy posted ~ 2 weeks ago that he ordered one which is strange since no other vendor can get it yet. |

if you enjoy being crafty, make your own! you can get a 180 degree mandrel bent ss pipe from jcwhitney for like $20. The rest of the parts you'll need won't be too expensive either, exept for a good filter.
just a thought. If you're interested, go to www.teamdelsol.com under the information page and you'll find directions and a supply list. (sorry, my girlfriend drives one!) You should be able to modify the directions to make a good one for an RS I was going to make one for her car, but she just got T-boned, so that project is being put on hold for now! -greg |

The cheapest I've seen is from www.jdmtouch.com (less than $240 shipped) but I've never done business with them so can't vouch for their service.
www.sounddomain.com also sells them for $250-$260 shipped and as a repeat customer of theirs, I can say that they are very good vendor to deal with. |

Dan over at Godspeed (www.godspeedinc.com) has them for $240 shipped.
Great service, and a quick turn around. jaSon |
