Default BOV and POLICE

Do people over here often get pulled over because mainly of the BOV? Like the cop would hear it and pull them over for it? Some people's BOV's are pretty loud but I haven't really heard anyone get pulled over for it so I was wondering if it ever really happens. I like cruisn around at night and was planning on getting a BOV but the thing is I see a lot of police when I just cruise at night here at Milpitas so I don't want to be getting pulled over for it.

I don't know about in Milpitas, but here in Sac, this is pretty much true.
I had a friend get pulled over and the cop searched his car and asked about the BOV. He said it would take too long to explain what it was and for the cop to not worry about it. The cop actually just moved on. The cop then asked if his exhaust was stock. He said yes, and the cop left it at that. Just an FYI, he had a Tanabe racing medallion.

the cop would have to be a real dick to call you on that and you could pretty easily beat the ticket because they need to have a decibal meter at hand and few do and I don't think any bov breaks the decibal level long enough to warrant it.

I suppose they could tack it on to an existing ticket while they have you there.

And many many police are getting better at knowing what things are.

I got nailed in newark, ca. and they were asking me what kind of brakes and brake lines I was running.....the lift on my cam....stuff like that. but strangely enough didn't find the nos lines which I had very very well hidden and wrote me up for legal parts? Go figure....didn't matter anyways...didn't submit the tickets so aftet a year they were drops...no points no problems.....that was my civic.

so yeah...I highly highly doubt you will have a problem.

Maybe somone could confirm but I think it would be a fix it ticket and in the 10 minutes it takes to swap the bov off you can find a cop to sign it off and pay the $10 bucks and put it back on 10 minutes later. But I am not sure if noise violations are fix its or not?

The BOV is considered part of the emissions system and you can get busted for it. I have been pulled over for mine in Sacramento (Citrus Heights) but the cop did not show up in court so it was dismissed.

my HKS BOV is pretty loud. the oompa loompa cop in davis (you know who he is... short, shaved head, mustache, YOUNG, pissed out at the world). He said he pulled me over for accelerating too hard, etc. in downtown davis. NO ticket, just all attitude until he saw my drivers license and realized i was probably older than him. The car is getting more popular and recognized to be fast. A loud exhaust, and louder BOV just draws more attention to you. But, who doesn't like their BOV???

Get pull over for a loud exhaust, that I can understand... A loud BOV? I would imagine that you're doing some lauching combo rite in front of the cops.

That depends on the valve. My GFB Stealth will pop at light throttle and low rpm shifts depending on what percentage I am venting to atmosphere. It is louder when I push the car harder but it will still vent when I am driving casual...

Yeah, but doesn't mean that's loud enough to have cops to pull you over; unless like I said you're doing some lauching combos.
