Default what is that popping/tapping noise after engine shutoff?

when i turn my car off, and not just my subaru i noticed it on my audi too, i get this popping/tapping/crackle noise. the engine doesnt have to be hot i dont think. any insight? thanks

it's expansion and contraction. Even if the engine hadn't been on long your oil/coolant probably got up to temp and is hot enough to start warming the rest of the engine. To boot when you shut down the oil well most of it returns to the oil pan which gets warm and centralized heat warms and expands parts. So it's perfectly fine, check it out after running the car for a couple hours it starts pinging and popping as soon as you turn the car off.
