any Bay Area performance shops

Hey guys,

I'm jealous of the folks that live near Teagues, or MRT, or Cobb's. Heck even JCSports, (maybe they wouldn't be so bad to deal w/ them in person.) Are there any performance shops in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area area that carry hop-up parts and/or service for the RS?

Also, any recommendations for shops in the area that carry racing gear?

I believe in the august issue of SCC Shiv had work done at some place in fremont, at least I think it was in fremont. I don't have the issue with me currently but someone should be able to straighten out the details.

I think they were talking about Wings Corp. or Bozz Speed. They're both in Fremont, and pretty close to each other.

Wings carries GAB and Advan products. Bozz is more of a speed shop and can get you pretty much anything you want.

For anyone in the Sacramento area, Motorsport Dynamics is going to start carrying Greddy and Cusco stuff for the impreza when it becomes available in the US. Time should be in the next couple of weeks and they already have a couple of orders for Cusco stuff.

speed options is good in berkeley... but whatever you do, dont go to conversion techniques in oakland.

Bozz Speed is the shop in Fremont.
Speed Options in Berkeley is Good.
I have all of my wheel/tire/suspension work done at Auto Options also in Berkeley.
(I live there even though it says I'm from SF. Gotta change that one of these days).
They also swapped a tranny for me a while back. Good shop, you just need to know what you want and they can usually get it and install it if you need that.

I know I have been working too hard, but I must have been smoking some crack yesterday.

There is no such shop as Speed Options in Berkeley. I saw the name and agreed they were good. speedoptions is actually a Honda site I used to go to for tech&used parts.

Auto Options is open on Saturdays but not Sundays. There is in fact another shop called Griffin Motorworks 2 doors down on San Pablo. They tend to specialize in Audis and VW's, but are more of a speed shop.

It all depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for seats and harnesses or a set of KYB's Auto Options can help. If you want an HKS turbo timer or a set of Brembos, Griffin would be a better choice.

Bozz Sports does have the reputation of being a race shop and Fremont is just across the bridge from the Peninsula. Alex and Shiv go there, so it's probably pretty good(and expensive).

At griffen , there is James chin. he has been helping me with my subie since 1995. Plus he is the guy who does most of the wrenching for shiv.

Not to mention terry griffen is there and its fun just to hear him swear and rant for a couple of hours.

Bring terry a good bottle of wine and he'll be nice.

I knew james when he worked w/ bill at Auto Options. He is very knowledgeable. See if he can go to the track day at thunderhill.
