Default Is better spark plug wire can +hp???

I just bought the "option fans magazine" recently b/c of the article "6mt GC8 vs 6mt GDB" that attracts me. Anyways, there is an article talking about the tunning of the Acura RSX. And they found that by putting in the HKS spark plug wire (hotwires) alone can add up to 6hp (tested on the dyno!). So, I just want to know is that true? If so, then I will get one for my car, and which brand makes a good spark plug wire? Thanks.

i doubt on a new car you would get that gain, but on an older car with worn wires yes, you'll see a "hp gain". in reality you'll just be regaining lost hp

maybe with some mods being done i could see a gain, especially if you had an ignition system installed, and maybe some specific applications where the factory wires just aren't good

but for our cars, most seem to say you won't notice a hp gain if you have good wires, but you will notice a little refinement in engine smoothness and throttle response

oh, and for our cars, everyone seems to like magnacores

I wonder how many pre and post runs they did, and how far apart the pre and post runs where from each other. 6 hp could be the difference between a warm day for the pre and a cooler day for the post.

Each car is different, some cars' factory wires aren't very good, maybe the Honda wires are cheap?

Most of the Subaru people agree that replacing spark plug wires doesn't add a noticeable amount of HP.

It could also be that the honda engine is so weak-feeling, that any improvement is noticeable, and the subaru engine feels stronger, so adding a little power doesn't feel like a big improvement.

An RSX makes less torque than our 2.5RS, correct?

yep, the rsx type-s only makes 142 ftlb at 6000 rpm, 141 ftlb at 4000 for the normal rsx

if the wires he mentions are the "hotwires" I'm thinking of, they may increase HP. Nonology makes wires with capacitors on them that store up extra charge or some crap. I dunno, but it's more than "just a wire" so it there might be something to them. I haven't looked into it.

"just be regaining lost hp"

Exactly right.

Your purpose should be to find wires that dont lose power over time. The only good set of wires I know of that doesnt wear out are the Magnecore. 7.5mm can be had for the same price as normal wires, 8.5 for less than double.

I can get the NGK wires from my dealer, so how is this one compares to the Magnecore?

couldn't tell you, but i know magnacore also uses the factory subaru boots, which ensures a good snug fit
