Default why do bad things always happen to my car?

so 6 months straight of bad things..

big accdient (not my fault), cracked windshield, broken radiator hose, hit and run on my rear bumper, and now it seems my TURBO is having problems.

so i'm driving along minding my own business.. and then i hear this loud kind of metalish "click" sound, and then my turbo starts to sound like it's spoolin all weird.. so i back off the throttle and drive it around 2000-3000 for the rest of the short drive to my friends house. when i get there, i'm parked infront of his driveway and rev to 2500-2800 to see if i get taht sound still, and yes i do. so after i leave it there for 2 hours or so, i turn my car on again and try driving it around the block and it seems fine. so i go about my business until evening. i start driving my car cautiously home and it seems fine, until 10 minutes in and i hear the same "click" sound and this time i lose ALL BOOST so it's like driving a civic. good thing the rest of the drive home was downhill and i coasted it infront of my house where it will sit until i can get back from davis on friday.

any suggestions or comments on what you guys think it might be? i think there's something in my turbo that came from either the upipe cat or the engine when i got into the accdient. the only engine mods i have is the intake silncer removal, hks bov, and dp + exhaust

Maybe your EGT probe came loose and then fell out putting you into limp mode?

i don't know about that because i hear some horrible click sound under the hood before my turbo starts to sound like it's spooling in consistently or even not at all.. i'll take it to the dealership, but i have school in davis and i was at home in burlingame :-/

If your stuck in Burlingame then take it to Ron Price in S. SF. It's real close to you, and you don't have to drive all the way up to Davis w/ it like that. I would get it checked out before you drive to far. Good luck

Pull off your heatshield ( 6 x 10mm bolts) and check the wastegate actuator. You might even be able to look under it with a powerful flashlight. It's quite likely your actuator has come disconnected. This happened to me awhile back and I had to get a new a retaining ring for the linkage.

If you live/work near the East Bay or Marin, I can give you a ret ring for free (316 stainless, not reg steel)

I can sympathesize with you. For the first 6 months of this year, my car has been hit by 5 different people. Talk about a car that has "MOLEST/HIT ME" tattooed to it.

i do think that it might actually be the wastegate actuator, that was my initial thought. anyway, the deal is now that i had it towed to carelson in redwood city cuz i had my first car serviced there before and they'll update me tomorrow with what's up.. i hope iut's nothing bad or expensive..

i'll keep you guys posted.

i called the shop back today, and they say that something is IN the turbo :-/ which sucks because i haven't modified the upipe or engine at all.. so basically it has to be from the work that the auto shop here in davis did to repair my car from the accdient in feb.. i'm gonna have my mom bring down the repair invoice tomorrow and see if i still cover this under warranty because as it stands now, it will be $1500 if i want them to fix it

haha i wish, i should sue the stupid shop that fixed my car.. when i got it back i found that some drops of acid had removed paint from the left side of my car, of course it might not be their fault.. but i brought it back in twice because 1, they didn't replace my timing chain cover and my downpipe was rubbing against my frame and my hood was rattling.. i don't think they did a good job :-/

anyway, i'll have news on what the deal is with my car by 2m because my mom is brining some papers down.. blah more car drama..

so as all things come to an end, the carlsen finally tore down my car and found that i had a faulty turbo and a o2 sensor that was cut.. the insurance adjustor is comming out to take a look to see if it was accident related, and if it isn't it will be $2000!!! but either way, i'll have my car back by the end of the week.. atleast that's somethign to look forward to.

that's true, but if insurance is going to cover it, i should just let the shop put in new parts.. i think they said it was 1500 for turbo upipe and gaskets which is still ridiculous and 500 for labor.

it would come out of my pocket if it doesn't go through insurance. that is because there has been "work done on the engine" and they cannot warranty it.. which is kinda lame, but if i gets to that point then i will start fighting for my warranty since I have not personally done any aftermarket engine work on my car.
