They are simply not going to change from what Subaru has used since they went to a 5 lug from 4... 5x100mm

Thanks Colin....I just bought a set of Raceline rally wheels for my dsm and was wondering if they would fit the new WRX when I get one.

Wink

Those must be universal 5 lug wheels, because all of our cars are 5x114.3 aren't they?

Yeah, they are. Oh well, I shouldn't have a problem selling the Racelines when I get a WRX.

DSM_rally...the offset on the dsms are like 43mm if I remember correctly.

The offset on the Subarus are a rare aftermerket find of 53mm.

On the current models, 48 was the max you could go without rubbing in the rear.

We don't know what the difference is going to be in the rear of the new car, but I would venture a guess that 53mm is still the norm without much clearance in the rear.

Yes it is also 5 x 100 vs 5 x 114.3.

Let's suppose that the new WRX has a 53mm positive offset. Now take a look in the Subaru add after p58 in Auto Express (UK) issue #624. The silver WRX.
Now take a look at the space between the rear wheel/tire face in relation to the fender and lip. Does this look like more of a lateral gap than our current RS's? This is a 215/45r17 tire.
I really hope this hunch is true the way I see it. It would allow us a more free range of choice in wheels.
Mind you, this mag is a weekly. So check it out soon!

One of the reasons to go to a higher offset tire is that you upgrade your rim to get a wider tire on the car. (Usually a 225)

The problem is, the wider rear tires rub on the lower spring perches, not on the outside lips.

The lips usually have the clearance, but the perches don't.

Perhaps on the front of a current Impreza that is true. It's exactly the opposite for the rear, almost always a tire will foul on the stock fender with +53mm offset before it rubs on the spring perch or strut body. It obviously gets worse as offset decreases...

If you're talking about the new Impreza... it runs 225/45-17, presumably with plenty of clearance.
