Default mild cobb cams CEL??

I was going to buy some mild COBB cams for my sohc 99 impreza RS. I was wondering if anyone has installed these and is it possible to intall these without having a CEL? And do you need to replace your valves and springs also?? Thanks for the replys....

AFAIK they do not cause a CEL. You would only need springs and retainers if you wanted to raise your redline- but since you'll have the heads apart for it, why not do that too? The only issue is that you are unlikely to pass emissions testing with the cams.

Cobb's mild cams will pass the tailpipe testing, even in California. And there's no way to flag them on the visual because you can't see them and they do not change the idle quality. The spicy cams are another story... They won't pass and on about 50% off the people they do cause a CEL.

As for the valves and springs, totally unnecessary. Those cams are mild enough you don't need a higher spring rate and you aren't going to bump the redline on a cam like that because they don't make any extra power past redline. Just make sure you adjust the valve lash and you will be fine...
