What do you all think? Should I wait another month max to get a MY01 RS? Or should I get a MY00 within two weeks?

If it is not remotely possible for you to spend $25k or so and ensure something classed about like an Eclipse GSX (just guessing on my part), then try to get a good deal on a remaining MY00.
If you can budget the above, I would really recommend waiting a few months to see what solidifies around the whole Impreza turbo thing. |

The insurance on a Turbo Impreza gives me a headache, and I haven't even gotten a quote yet :-).

If I were you I would get a MY00 RS. I was watching some Subaru special on Speedvision that mentioned all of their cars new in the USA and they did not mention one thing about any turbo car at all. In fact, they only said that the STx was an experimental concept truck and didn't mention that it was definite. Maybe that special was old and the turbo and STX(definite) are now added.
Anyways, they are both awesome cars and it is really an individual opinion. The only advantage with the MY01 is that it will already have utrbo and stronger componenet which will all be covered under warranty. On the other hand, you can have the RS sooner adn it will be probably around 5,000 or more cheaper. IMHO that much of a price hike from RS to the WRX is too drastic. It's up to you. Why don't you wait when you can compare and test drive both of the cars and see if it is worth the price differnce. I know, I know....waiting sux. Hope this helped just a tad. ![]() |

Out of curiosity, will they have a MY01 non-turbo available sooner? I /am/ itching for a turbo, but I suppose a MY00 will do until the warranty runs out (or something) and then I can plop a turbo in there...maybe it won't be as good as the real thing, but with some mod it'll do...

MY01 will be the same as MY00 (maybe come with a CD or something as standard). MY02 will be the turbo ones and won't be available until early '01. This is all based on the latest rumours and dealer/magazine quotes so don't believe a word of it.

Will they be making any other improvements? I heard maybe they were changing the cup holders (yay). I don't want to run out and buy a MY00 only to find out a month later the MY01 comes out with all the crappy stuff fixed, and maybe some thing improved upon. Though I bet I could have my MY00 this weekend :-)

I bought a MY00 Impreza RS for %2 under invoice back in April. I bet you could get a really good discount now.

well whatever you do, don't think that the turbo is without its flaws as well.
Note that if you mention turbo next to any car name, the insurance automatically skyrockets. Tim |
