Cool WOOHOO!!!! Rally-x kill story (longish)

Well, I have to say rally-x is far more fun than aout-x. This was my first time as well as the first try at an event for my SCCA region. It went great! The course was big (.9 miles), fast (I hit 64 on the long straight/sweeper according to my passenger!), and overall very entertaining. This car is simply amazing in the dirt. I was a little worried being my car is set up for STS auto-x with Ground Control coilovers (325f/275r 8"springs)on KYB/AXG struts/ 205/50/15 Nitto Nt450's (yuk!), but everyone who saw the car said it looked great during the runs and I can say it handled fantastic. I did very well for my first time out, 2nd in class SO4, but even better 4th overall out of 35, the top 15 other than me are all local pro rally drivers and ice racers. My best story of all tho is, you guys ever seen the VW commercial with the pro rally driver who won the production class in 99? The one in the blue bug that everyone walks by and says "Cute Car"???? Well, I kicked his bug loving ass in the same car as the commercial!!!!! By almost 2sec overall and 1sec for 4 counted runs. My little Scoob Vs. a fully prepped production class rally car! I hope that's not just a northeastern commercial or this means nothing to most of you. But anyways, If you ever had a notion to try rally-x, DO IT! you'll love it trust me.

I don't know how, but you bet I did! Oh and by the way as I'm going through the pics, This is why you don't rally-x anything with a high CG He rolled 50ft before the finish and still made it through to beat his dad who was driving the same truck!

i want to rally-x soooo bad. i'm trying to organize one in the midwest, but corvette owners seem to frown on it til then, i have my own secret stash of dirt roads to play on (gotten up to 90 on the straight sections before i wimped out) and was out trying to teach myself to left-foot brake sunday in the rain

Dauthi,
If you like the rally-x stuff, you should try out some of the winter rallys that your region puts together. I usually drive up to Rochester for at least one of them.

Thats hillarious. While rallycrossing down at Jean Dry Lake bed at the Vegas meet, someone also rolled a Tacoma. Results looked about the same as that Tacoma shown. Hows that for bad carma? Good job on the win!

ASNG,

Go ahead, but don't forget to post the link here. I wanna see it but don't want to be corrupted by browsing clubSi. That would be hilarious. If you wanna link direct to the pics they are here http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...2371&a=9901332

Man If I do that good my first time out on crappy street tires I gotta set up my car and try club rally sometime!

Anyone need an unknown driver for a rally effort? I'll try out! lol

Pete W.

P.S. Snoopy, one of my friends did and Karl just sneered and walked away! hehe

Justin,

As long as you use your head with speed Vs. course conditions your car should be fine. It was born to do it! If you see a spot with a big bump on the course walk just be sure to slow down before you get to it the first run to get a feel for how fast you can go over it. Rally of any type is all about using your head to read the road and keeping your car alive first going fast second. Nobody wins with a broken car. (usually) Just ask Freddy Loix!!
