Post LSD Diff specs

Hi,
I own a Datsun 240Z and I recently found out that Subaru diffs are an almost direct swap for the Z's. Can anyone tell me what models came with the Limited Slip diff, and what ratio's they have? I'm looking to get into racing and a variety of ratio's would help. How much can I expect to pay for a diff in a wrecking yard?
This is a cool site, lots of info for a spec junkie.
Thanks,
Anthony

Thanks Reiflex. Unfortunatly I did see that already. I can probably find an LSD pretty easy, I'm pretty sure the RS has it, and other models like the Outback and such that have all the options.
What I really need is the drive ratio. Also, how much torque and HP has been put through the stock diffs?
Thanks
Anthony

The 2.5RS uses a Hitachi R160 rear differential. It can be easily upgraded to an R180, and not so easily to an R200.

The 5spd uses a 4.11:1 gear ratio and the automatic has a 4.44:1. You must ensure that the rear diff ratio is matched with the front (contained within the transmission) or the center differential will seize... so if you're changing from those stock ratios, make sure to change the front diff too.

Ok Subaru didn't put ANY rear LSDs in the 95-99 cars. In 2000 They put them in the Outback limited, the Forester S, and the 2.5RS. I THINK the Legacy GT got it in the limited version also.

Before that there is the clutch type in the 85-90 SOHC cars, but they are mostly found on turbos, and few are still unclaimed.

The 91-94 Legacy Turbo had a vicous style rear LSD, but these are RARE.

I'm not sure that anyone has reached the level of power to make the rear diff fail. That's not to say they aren't wearing out really quickly, but I've never heard of some one blowing the rear diff on a hard launch or anything (including the guys running high boost). But these cars are also AWD so not all the power is going through the rear diff.
There are a couple guys here with old Z's, so hopefully they'll chime in and give you a hand.
Good luck

Is the rear diff in the 2.5RS a limited slip? Only for 99-2000MY's? Are there any LSD R180's in Subaru's? If it's easily upgraded to an R180 (which the 240Z has) then where or what car to do I get one (a limited slip in 4.11:1 ratio).
Thanks for the info already given.
Anthony

The 00-up 2.5RS has a viscous coupling LSD, and so does the 01 Forester S and Legacy GT.
