Question anyone have cruise control trouble?

Last night I'm driving down the highway and I go to set my cruise and it doesn't work. The light in the cruise button worked but it wouldn't set on any speed.I checked the fuse in the fuse box and it was fine. For those who have not looked the cruise and abs system share the same fuse.Ok, this morning it worked. It would set on a speed but the funny thing is when I set it for 60mph it would slowly fall back to about 56mph.When I set it on 67mph it never budged.Anyone have any problem like this?

sorry to butt in on your post, I don't really have a problem with my cruise, but I just wanted to say that it is damn annoying to have to press the button to turn on the cruise. I hate that! Does anyone know why they did that? Or is it an evil plot to drive me nuts?

Wow. Thats funny. I had the same problem this weekend. I was driving to santa fe and set the cruise to 60...and it kept falling down. It stayed on, but would not stay at that speed. Curious!!

Keep me posted...

Mine is toast too. It was intermittent at first but is now totally gone. I think the contacts in the switch in the steering wheel are bunk. Not sure, and I have not taken it in yet, as mine is WAY out of warranty.

You guys are setting it right..correct? You do know that you have to push the button, then push down on the tab on ur steering wheel, then it should just cruise for you. Mine's works.

I had the same exact problem and it turned out to be a loose vacuum line. Check for a black rubber hose that runs from the block to your cruise unit (green device where the turbo should be). Check to see if there is any leak. Mine was almost disconnected when I had a transmission fluid change made.

Hope this helps,

In addition to the vacuum lines, check out the clutch pedal cruise switch stopper if you have a 5-speed. Mine stopped working completely with this little plastic stopper in a hole in the clutch pedal wore out.

I always wondered what would happen, and yesterday I found out. I've never had cruise and a manual transmission before!

I'm cruising along the highway, cruise set, and coming up to where I want to turn. I reach down and pull it out of gear.

Next thing I no the tach is racing toward redline. (Homer Simpson: Doh! )

I can't remeber if I steped on the clutch and it stoped, or it kicked off automaticaly.

Just though you guys would enjoy my moment of stupidity!

I always have a problem when I resume a cancelled cruise. It ALWAYS resumes to 2-3 mph higher than where it was set.

Bryan, ive never in my life seen a perfect working cruise control... They just dont exist!

BTW, I love where the Cruise is on the MY00 legacy (I think its the same as the RS) its soo intuitive for turning it on and off right there at your fingers!

BTW #2, The button is there on the side so you dont accidently bump the cruise and set it... Safty thing.

NebScoob.. the switch located under the dash on the clutch lever needs to be adjusted. there are two, one for neutral safty-to start the car and the other to disengauge the cruise when the clutch is pushed in..
