Default Car Cover and Maintenance

Is a car cover a good investment for someone who parks their car outside? Should I be more concerned in the winter when it snows?

I'm at school right now and I don't drive much...maybe once or twice a week. If I don't drive for a while, should I do anything, like disconnect the battery?

The only problem I would have about using a car cover is that your car and the cover (where the cover touches the car) would have to be very clean as any small amount of dirt (read abrasive material) would damage the paint work.

I agree. A little dust is not going to damage the finish (i.e. the surface doesn't have to be spotless). However, I do agree that your car needs to be "pretty" clean if you're going to cover it. This means that you will need to run a duster over it and/or use a detail spray if you have dust or road grime on your car. This will help keep the car cover clean and avoid a "potential" problem with abrasive material (dirt, sand, whatever...) being rubbed across your finish as the wind whips the cover.
