Post I-Club vs Club Si

I speaking for the TRI-State Chapter want to put the debate to bed. Let's Rock Si's & civics vs RS & OBS
I chose dates on tracks on both Auto-x and drag race. Let's see who's faster on a track not in a MAG!

If this post hadn't had todays date on it I would have thought some of the Honduh boys had already seen it on friday.I have had to many encounters this weekend with them.I think they are out to get me since I am the only RS in town I think. They are making me nervous.I might need some backup. You can't keep on making them look silly when they out number you 10 da 1.

Circumstances are this:

1. We all know eachother. Club Si crowd and I Club crowd in the Northeast. We all "chill" alot.

2. The Civic Si is a fast car, and will destroy you if you disregard it as so. Why do I see people calling this car garbage time and time again? It's kinda silly.

It's not a "waste of time", it's a bunch of bs'ing between friends. We get together with them and help them with their cars, and they help us with ours.

It's all relative,

Chris

why is it a waste of time? unless i missed something it will all be on legally sanctioned tracks. which brings to mind; why tune your car at all if not for some form of competition... because i know none of us here street race! that, after all is illegal. i am also sure that we all drive the speed limit on all public road; so there is simply no way to test the limit of our cars and ability without going to a track of some sort.

Angry

as i am an owner of my2000 civic si and babysitter of my girlfriend's my2000 RS, i read both boards. i have noticed on many occasions of various flames and name callings on the clubsi board. some information on the clubsi board are very useful but then reverts to imposing opinions on their favorite parts or look and if you don't use it or even have it then you are a moron, but not in those words. very annoying and immature site compared to i-club.

I think it's a great idea! I hate when Si's pull up and think they're hot you know what. It pisses me off. IMHO, the RS is a better car, but no offense guys, there are probably an elite few Si drivers that could kick some of our arses. But good luck to those who participate. And may the best driver bring it home!

Sure the Si is quick, but just how quick? Let's look at a few numbers.
Si: 2600lbs
RS: 2700lbs
Si: 160hp
RS: 165hp
Si: 111ft-lbs
RS: 166ft-lbs

Ok, I know that the weights are ball park rounded, and those are stock output numbers, but mods being mods, I think they'd stay pretty much in scale. Is the gearing on the Si so much different that they can keep up/beat an RS (with a driver not missing shifts)? Or is it all about redline?

Sorry, grabbed that # from the 2735 listed under the L sedan. How about 2800? Is that better? The Civic is going to have an equal amount of extras adding weight too. My RS rolls across the scale at just over 3000 with a tank of gas, my fat *ss (all 165 of it), my emergency supplies, and my middle-weight stereo in it. I assume that the Civic will also have gas, driver, and stereo stuff in it. That's why I didn't add for it on either column. If you've got a problem with the 2800, deal. According to carpoint, the 5 speed RS sedan is 2825.

Catch a honda at the track and watch him prep his tires. Then he can develop some traction.
Next day catch him on the street and he has no traction.
Also as a result of reading the scoobynet board, I like to think that a slightly prepared Scooby can turn in some respectable laps on the worlds leading circuits. And Honda just doesn't fit that scenario for me.

I'm cool with it as long as we don't turn into another (ZX2.com or SE-R) group for them over there.. any clubSi guys here know exactly what I am talking about.

I spend almost as much time there as I do here. and I don't want the RS's to turn into one of thier "targeted" groups over there because it's been really good over there for the RS's.

and my assesment.. We'll lose...

We're not a drag racing crowds, nor are our cars.. (but Kevin Thomas is out that way...... heh)

autocross.. that's another story..
