Cool Skyline R33 Sighted!

Silver R33 Skyline GTR V-spec!!! It was parked on San Pablo. I saw it on the way to Albany Subaru to buy some parts. My friend and I parked right behind it, got out circled the car and kept on drooling. It has a crooked exhaust, rims and a motorex license plate frame. MMmmMmm, Skyline.

That guy attends the local streetraces as well. Huge controversy with him this past weekend running an all motor Type-R (from a crew call SVP)...they say they won, everyone who saw it says they lost.

I'll give the Type-R some respect, I've seen it go 12.4 at Sacrameto, but that Skyline is fast....REAL fast...

I heard about that, didn't know it was that Skyline though. 12.4 is damn fast for an all motor Type-R. Was it stripped? The Skyline wasn't, at least not when I saw it.

I've passed that guy too - I had to squeeze by him on a narrow cross street to San Pablo just the other day and got a good look at the machine - pretty cool.

As to the Type R beating it...

The Skyline is heavy. Yes, it has an engine with a lot of potential but it's a 3400 pound AWD car with a 280 hp motor stock. 12.4 for a stock Skyline would be an EXCELLENT time. Consider that AFIK none of the various 260-300hp AWD, turbo RS on this board have run 12.4, and they weigh 500+ pounds less (although the gearing is admittedly not nearly as good, 500 pounds is 15% less). 12.4 is definitely possible with relatively mild tuning to the Skyline, but low 12s is nothing to be sneezed at.

The better question is whether the Type R can do that on a regular basis. It's certainly possible but not without some fairly aggressive lightening. Even if you drop a 250hp comprehensively reworked B18C in up front it's gonna need to be lightened to ~2200 or so before you can run 12.4. In an Integra chassis that will take Lexan and other fairly extreme mods. You might even have to take performance-enhancing wing off .

i see the SVP tpye R all the time at the local runs. Yes, he does run 12's. That car is loud as a mother when he revs it at full throttle. I know that he has racing cams and port and polish. Ive seen him get pulled over twice and once in a bust. I guess he doesnt know when to quit. What i want to see is a wrx go at it with the the racing crowd. Make it more interesting recently its just been a battle of the hondas.

It will take more than racing cams and a port job... full balance and blueprint plus a Hondata would be getting there, but 250 is probably going to take B16A pistons and a careful extrude-hone of the intake manifold, a little boring of the throttle body, a 4-1 header, etc. It's going to be pricey, but the Type R owner will have spent half of what the Skyline owner spends to go as fast.

Cal - yes, I do live here. I've driven many cars in the last few years, but lately I've settled on a Toyota 4-Runner as my daily driver. The one with the hood scoop. Black. Lowered. With really dark window tint and bright chrome wheels.

and yese the big controversy bout the svp type r and the skyline.. from wat everyone says the skyline beat it.. TWICE.. unforunately i missed the race.. just when we were going to the track theey were in.. we spotted 2 cops going there.. so if yall were at htat track.. i was the one who bailed yall out.. hah..

and yes the svp type r is fast.. u do not wanna mess with that.. if u doubt it.. go ahead and challenge em..
