Default Do i need new driveshafts for my EJ25 swap???

I am doing the a 2000 ej25 swap into my 941.8L. I have the tranny from the 2000 RS and i am getting 99RS rear diff. the guy who is selling me the rear diff asked if need driveshafts, and i didnt know, can i use my stock driveshafts an would my shafts fit into the 99rs diff and the 00rs tranny or will i need to get the 99RS driveshafts. or would it be a good idea to get the driveshafts anyways. and will those 99rs shafts fit into the 2000 RS tranny.

thanks

Hello,

I just completed my RS engine/driveline swap into my 93L wagon. You will need to get the Axles for the RS. The ones on the 1.8 are shaped a little different and will not work on the Rear Diff. Plus they are much stronger and bigger then the 1.8's. The propeller shaft can be used from the 1.8....but I would go with an newer unit from a 2.2L (Which I did) It is also more stongly built then the 1.8 unit.

Make sure that the diff you are getting is from a manual 99, and not an auto. the manual comes with a 4.111 ratio, where as the auto comes with a 4.444. You will need the 4.111. Also the 99 is a NON LSD....only 00-01 RS's came with Limitted Slip Rear Diffs. 02-04 RS's have open rear diffs, as do the 98-99 models.

Cheers

EddyL.

To answer your questions......YES.

98-01 axles work with all combination 98-00 trannies and diffs. On my wagon I have 98 axles (Front and rear) on a 00 RS 5-spd tranny and 99 diff (I have also a 00 LSD diff and it mates up fine too to that......doing some testing with both diffs).

Note: all items are from RS cars.

Cheers
