I thought all morettes were LHD since they are from France? The easiest way to check is to turn them on and see how the light pattern is.

_/ _/ would be LHD (light angles up to the right)
\_ \_ would be RHD (light angles up to the left)

also, if you look closely at the right projector lamp- you'll notice that it points very far right- if it's RHD

of course the opposite is to be said for LHD

speed safely

Morette only makes the housings; there are plenty of Morettes around Britian.

Calvin's right; look for which way the __/ goes.

Thanks guys. I was hoping there was a marking on them somewhere. Oh well; I'll just have to wait till I install them.

Where did you get them from? Did you buy them new or used? Is there a reason you suspect they may be RHD?
All you would have to do to find out is take a couple of jumper wires or clipleads and (carefully) power up one of the low beams while pointing it at a wall or vertical surface so the beam pattern can be seen.
You don't want to wait until installing them to find out. If they are RHD I would recommend NOT installing them and if new returning or exchanging them for a LHD set. It makes a significant difference both in visibility for you and annoyance to oncoming traffic, and unlike with the STi lights LHD Morettes are quite readily available so there is no reason to settle for RHD ones.

I bought them used from a member here. I got suspicious of them being rhd just because he told me they had a pnp harness and they do not, he didn't send the speedclips that go on the top, and the rear covers for the lights were just laying in the box. So I'm just wondering what else he may have omitted.

Sorry for the n00b question, but I really don't understand how to interpret the _/_/ and \_\_. Are the lines the border of the light emitted? Does that represent both lights, or just one? And would that be the view from inside the car? Thanks.

The pattern just applies to the low beam which is the projector unit (the one on the outer side of the light closest to the fender). __/ is just a rough interpretation of the way the pattern cutoff should appear. The beam will be horizontal and then go up to the right if it is LHD. If RHD it will be the opposite. Yes that would be the view from inside or anywhere behind the lights.
You are correct to be suspicious and should check this out as soon as possible. From what you're describing the buyer misrepresented the lights as being complete when they were not. Most likely they are LHD as most Morettes sold in the US were, but there is always a chance they aren't.

Thanks mulder. I hooked them up yesterday and they are LHD, and the guy has agreed to buy me the pnp harness, so it's all good. Now I just have to wait for the paint guy to call...
