Default some basic questions

Hey everyone. I don't currently own a subaru, but after a recent small accident... and my car being totaled... I've decided to look into a Subaru. I would like something that is kinda sporty with nice handling and acceleration. Most will say Impreza I think from the start, but I had owned a Pontiac Grand Am GT, so if the Legacy GT is about the same as far as accel. goes it is fine. Anyone have some advice? Also, do Subaru's have good roll cages?

Drive them both (Legacy and Impreza). They are both fine cars. The Legacy is larger and a little softer. The Impreza is faster and a little more fun to drive. I say get the Forester XT with the 2.5 Turbo - it's a blast!

Thanks... not much of an SUV person, so I think I am leaning away from the forester... happen to know the 0-60 time on the Legacy GT and the Impreza?

Which Impreza? Legacy auto or stick?

Wish I could drive a stick, so it'll be an auto. It'd be an older car, somewhere around a '98, and a 2.5L... I don't know how much that would help. Also, how good are they are handling?

I haven't driven an older one but I imagine it handles good like all the other Subarus I've driven. Sorry I can't help with the 0-60 times either. I don't think it will be too slow though.

I appreciate the help. What is the limited/aerodynamic speed limits on them? Also, my friend was telling me about something called a sports performance chip... he said it adds like 20hp, and I was curious if it actually does and if so how much does it drop your mpg?

a chip won't get you 20hp alone.
