Coolant Change Question

I'm in the process of doing my 30k maintenance and I am not sure what kind of coolant to get.

Is it necessary to buy the special coolant from the dealership, or does regular old prestone/water do the trick?

Phosphate and Silicate-free is what you need. Depends on which dealer, some sale the green stuff, which isn't optimal for our cooling system. I used Dex-cool, but with this stuff you have to keep an eye on it and check it daily. It's orange, and Dex-cool doesn't mix with the green stuff so flush it really good. Also, use distilled water to dilute the mix. There is tons of info on this subject, do a search and you will find many articles that you will find beneficial.

Another option is Toyota Coolant. It is Phosphate and Silicate free.
