Default 01 Phase II swap in 97 2.5GT - EGR/CEL problems

Hello all.
My 97 GT has a 2001 phase II SOHC EJ25 put in it. It doesn't have any problems, except it throws the occasional CEL because the phase I engine had an EGR system, and the phase II doesn't. The intake manifold of the phase II isn't designed for an EGR, and I don't think one can use the Phase I intake on the Phase II engine. So I need to find a way to fool the engine into thinking there is an EGR, or some other way to stop it from throwing CEL's. I was thinking that a resistor put in where the EGR connects might solve the problem, but I don't know what the resistances are supposed to be, and if the resistance is supposed to change...so if a constant specific resistance will prevent CELs. Any ideas or direction for me in solving this problem would be most appreciated. Oh yeah, the car runs fine, no problems at all, the CEL isn't causing the ECU to go into limp mode or anything.
Thanks
Micum
