Default converting MY00 RS into a P1

I have a 2000 2.5RS I'm looking for some help on getting the front flip to a P1 or at least the equivilant 280horsepower engine
and inventually converting it into a P1 all together or at least the an American RS with ***/Euro engine and drivetrain power. Anyone have any information feel free to share!

V5 inverted struts

FHI rear sway bar (20mm should be right)

Headlight sprayer thingies
rear glass with rear wiper (iirc)
intercooler water spray
p1 gauge cluster

all I can think of right now...

this should take you next to forever anyways... If I think of more I'll come back and add it...

Getting the motor from a P1 should be the most difficult part. I would recommend using the USDM STi motor, if you can source one. A 2.0L JDM or euro-spec v5-v6 STi motor might be a little closer related to the P1's motor, but the USDM STi will have a more similar powerband, as the P1 was tuned for stricter emissions and better mid-range power than the JDM motors.


I believe P1 seats were custom-made for Subaru/Prodrive by Recaro, they look like a re-upholstered Recaro Sport.


Making your car look like a P1 will probably be the easiest part, though the driving lights might be expensive or difficult to source.


Sorry to say it, but the P1s started with a different chassis, it was a lightweight version of the Impreza 2-door, not the same thing that we received here in America, it's more similar to a STi type R than to a USDM 2.5RS. Structural reinforcement welds and sound deadening are two things that should be different, at the very least.

Default USDM STi motor

I know the USDM STi motor uses drive-by-wire. There have been many discussions about using an XT motor, but the same thing gets brought up, what to do about the DBW. If this is going to be a problem on both motors, why do ppl keep suggesting the USDM STi motor? Can someone shed some info on this for me?

Well you can use the 2.5 block and different heads. Ver 7 sti heads, reworked wrx heads, or you could rewire the v8 so its not DBW... but thats not going to be easy. You could use any block you want... Ive always like the ej22. I think a jdm sti motor would be more then enough power and stay with the P1 idea.

Initially I thought about the same idea, but most likely I will end up with a hybrid that looks like a P1 in BRP sans the wheel (I've got SSR instead as they are lighter). The seats will be a toughie, and I'm not going to bother with the inside trim saves the seat - just not worth the money to bring over tons of stuff from the UK.
