Angry Safelite repair rant...

well, I cracked my windshield on the way back from Tahoe Saturday.

Called Safelite Autoglass for a mobile appointment.

They came to my work this morning…

1) The guy that came could barely speak English? I mean, how can you offer services if you can barely communicate?
2) He told me it wouldn’t be perfect, but would be much better than it was.
3) well…its worst than it was…

when I told him:
“Euh…its not much better? Looks like someone shot a few pellets in my windshield?” (referring to the little holes he drilled)
he simply replied:
“Well..just get the windshield replaced and get reimburse the repairs.“

its like what the hell?...

I know that star chips can be repaired to the point that you can hardly tell, but should I expect the same for cracks? Or am I over reacting?

Do you have to pay for a service that was performed improperly?

What you should have done was not payed the moron and forced them to waste all their time trying to take you to small claims court.

Default CRACK!!!

Dude! What's up! I was at the Downieville Classic over the weekend! I raced Sport 35-44 DH and took 4th! Saw a silver STI, silver WRX and 2 blue wagons.

And guess what!!! I cracked my windshield on the way home too! I was on 80 near Davis.

I'm gonna take my chances on a repair too. It's on the pass side and a 3/16th crack.

Nick

ya I went to Northstar at Tahoe instead to avoid the D-Ville crowd...

mine happened on 5...right after Sacramento. This tractor-trailer that hauls tomatoes or potatoes flippin' decided to spew rocks all over...

Mine is on the drivers side...right in my field of vision (a tad more to the left tho...) Let me know how your repair goes!!

Congrats on the great finish!!

I5 throught Sacramento is a POS road ... there are rocks and trucks everywhere (bad combo). I commuted through it for 2 years in my WRX, and it shows (no crack windshield from it though).

I had safelite repair a crack for me before though, but he didn't have to drill anything? He just put some sort of glue on, heat it up with a lamp, and that's it. Insurance paid for it too.

Safelte repaired a crack for me about 1 year ago. I wasn't satisfied (something wrong with the seal) so I complained. They came out again and used a different rubber strip as the sealer, which they had to order. Now it works as good as stock. Just call them and complain nicely. After talking to them, I found out that you can also request they put in a stock Subaru windshield. It's a bit more expensive, but no real difference in glass.

Good luck.

Nice seeing you up at Downieville, Nick. We headed back Sunday am early to avoid the traffic. Just 4 cars on the 49 so it was a quick drive home...gotta love those twisties on good tarmac.

Later,
Eric.
