Aaaauuuugggghhh! My eyes!

Hmmm... I'm hoping it looks so bad just because of the odd angles of the photo...

Wow! I'm REALLY going to have to see this thing in the flesh (so to speak) before I make up my mind whether to order an '01 or an '02... Maybe in black rather than red... The fisheye lens doesn't help...

I think it looks not too bad.. the front end looks a bit like the europe style corolla, but the front bumper and fog lights still looks cool. i think add a few hood vents make it much better... But really need to see whether this is what we are really getting first.

Im sorry but i'm not trading in the RX7 for that. It might look better in person but for the time being the headlights do look like a Neon.

Doesn't look like a neon front end at all, definitely looks like a benz-y front end...

Aside from the overall looks of the car, I don't think it is fair to say that just because it has round headlights, it is a freacking Neon.
There are many more cars with round headlights (MB, Celica, etc.), I don't think they were trying to copy the Neon for once. Europe and Japan may not even know there is such a thing as a Neon!!!
Give Subaru some credit for trying something different. At least, it seems like flared fenders will be available, and therefore, better choice of rubber size for us.

Will see what happens

Cheers,
Marco

Why'd they use fish lenses?

Looks like a cross between the new bug and the Legacy with a hood scoop. And where are the exit vents?

Question

Uh.. I guess I'll be keeping my cash and upgrading my current car

I was hoping the new third gen would look more aggressive.. To me, it doesn't look much better than the second gen (97>). AND, it has no vents.. so much for the rally look..

Doesn't look that bad though..

The lights look kinda "older Porsche 964ish" with the way the body follows back along the lights. Granted the hood's not as sunken...

Many car companies are starting to mold the lights into the body nowadays.

The Fender flare over the wheels...22Bish.
This is practially spot-on with the penciled drawing that showed up a few months ago.

With the front being a little more aerodynamic, and a lower hood scoop...I like.

Ya know? I'm gonna buy it if it looks like this and it has the Turbo. Gimme Gimme Gimme.

It looks almost exactly the same as the current model, save for the glaring headlights. Just imagine some dual Morrettes or something and it might come out looking decent. Does have a slight "plasticy" ring to it, though. Maybe that's just the red. Well, we'll see tomorrow I suppose.

I like it. I think the red and the fisheye lense is throwing some of you off. Round lights are cool i've always dug them. I won't mis the vents and the more laid back scoope looks better. How real do we think this pic is anyway? If we get this with 240hp, good susp, brakes and at 26/27k I'm in. Coupe, wagon, sedan, whatever.

Hmmmm....

No noticable front turn signals (unless they are built into the headlights).

No side marker light

Corner lamp is gone, replaced with a tack on lens, looks like an afterthought.

fender looks similar to a Hyundai Tiburon

Must see it in person...220HP Turbo, 4-pots, 5 -door, 17" tyres (not RE92's either!), trunk light, remote gas door, and a price around $23K-$25K might make me like it more

I wonder how hard it will be to put the new motor into my MY00? Ah hell, I think I might just get that one! Doesn't look to bad.

Still gotta get the side shots and rear though..

I don't know about this one. it looks a bit too much like those waste-of-money-Neon's. and it took away what i thought was the best part of the MY99-00's, the wicked aggresive looking front-end. this thing looks so passive... "oh, you want to pass me? go ahead, i'll let you. i'm a wuss"

Looks like new car owners will be doing the MY02->preMY01 "front end" conversion.

Very cool. I was a little worried by the tiny pictures of the blue car, but seeing this gets me very enthusiastic. I hope someone has a contact in the UK with a subscription so we can see some scans tomorrow!

If you look closely at the headlight, you can see an upper section and a lower section behind the glass. Then on the left side of each is a smaller little light/reflecotr/lens. It looks like there may be more than 1 light behind the cover. More like 3 or 4. High beam, low beam, and turn.
Also there's a side marker light...that little orange thing between the light and the wheel well.
