Default Reno --> Sunnyvale in 3.5 hrs - is that good?

This is going only 80 --> 680 --> 280, getting off near Wolfe., not really the fastest way. PLENTY of CHP out there, though my R/D only went off a few times. MAN they are out there!!

Also - my Scooby ran like crap up there. What's the deal? I know it's the altitude, but I thought a turbo was supposed to help with that as well as the ECU adjusting. Once I got back to the Bay Area with 1/4 tank of non CA gas, my car was running like a scalded ape. Anyways.. Just sharing.

Yep that is good.
I can remember when it took that long all the time.
Even in the middle of winter with tons of people going skiing.
Ah the good ole days.

Cool

3.5 hours from Reno to Sunnyvale is pretty fast. It usually takes me ~3.5 hours home to Sugar Bowl parking lot, which is like 45 minutes before Reno!

As for the car running like crap - if there ain't snow on the ground, I usually keep the revs ~750-1000 higher up there so that the boost can compensate somewhat for the altitude. Before the boost kicks in you have a low compression four cylinder, which is going to feel like a dog. It's an odd feeling. On steep hills I have felt like the car was going to start rolling backwards. A downshift to first at 15 (standard "rev match/double clutch oops I got a nasty gear grind" disclaimers apply) really gets the car moving.

Yeah.. But.. That would mean I would have to go to Vegas. Hittin the LBC again in November - we'll see what I can do then. How's Sunnyvale to LongBeotch in 4.5? I have heard faster but.. This was spending a lot of time at 120-130 which is pretty damn hard especially these days. But DAMN 152 is a blast with good gas!!

yup that's pretty good. the best is then there's just the right amount of traffic and you can just keep your eyes about 500 yards ahead to choose your line through the traffic doing between 80 and 100...

mmm, that's fun even in a ford explorer with 6 horsepower.

That's pretty good time, indeed.
We made it from Livermore to reno in just over 3 hours on Sunday night, on the way home from Laguna Seca, Thank God for Radar Detectors!
