Default Just installed Stromung Cat

I just instaled my new cat and I have a majior clunking noise in the front end when I take my foot off the gas in lower gears. Especially 1st thru 3rd. I have a feeling that it is either motor or trans mounts.

Does this sound like I am in the right direction, and if so does anybody have an idea where I can get some from for a decent price?

The car sounds great with the dual tip and cat, but I don't want to be too hard on it until I replace the mounts.

jack up the corner of the car that the sound is coming from and check to see if your lugs are tightened the whole way.

My car did the exact same thing after I installed the Stromung Cat. I thought that it was the engine banging around in the mounts too.
I have to say, Gesh the exhaust is LOUD now.

Try a straight pipe with Borla Headers and Stromung Single tip

Anyway this noise only happened after you did the cat install?

Then it has to relate to the cat. Its not motor or tranny mounts. It may be the cat contacting the tranny mount.

A good starting point is to make sure the bolt in cat hanger is tightened down as much as possible without damaging it. Also if the cat has a flex joint the clunk could be coming from that. If its a ribbed flex joint then the ribs will heat up and become stiff and solid. When you let off the gas and the motor shifts, the flex pipe in the cat is forced to shift also. When the ribs shift it probably makes a good click or clunk noise.

The reason I thought it was the trans mount is because one time I felt it I happened to be looking down at shift lever, and I watched it physically move.

BTW my CEL came back on this morning. I guess I am going to have to order the kit to splice it into my O2 Sensor. Does anybody know how many I will need to order? I know that there are 2 O2 Sensors, but don't know if it is needed on one or both sensors.

You only need to order 1, just splices into the rear O2 sensor. The front is still used by your ecu, for other functions than just emissions.
