Default Weight?

What's the weight diference between an EJ25, and EJ20?
Anybody ever weighted them? I'm thinking about my engine options!

I personally don't know the difference, but I would bet it is minimal. Plus if I had the choice of a heavier closed deck EJ20 versus a lighter open deck EJ25 it wouldn't be a tough decision.

+142 LBS on the ej20 motor with the turbo....plus it sits more forward than a ej25....(Ref:MY00 2.5 compared to MY02 2.0)

My base model L, no power anything, with complete MY02 WRX drivetrain/brakes weighs in at 2690 lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas and no spare tire(track setup). Think the stock weight is a little over 2500 so +142 for the engine sounds about right.

What about a semi closed deck EJ257(STi motor)

Well if you're talking about the STI's EJ25 then it'll weigh close to what the EJ20 does.

Scooby South and I thought you were talking about the RS N/A EJ25.

I did originally mean the RS EJ25, but then I found out that EJ255 short blocks sell for around $1300! I think I'm going to go with a EJ255 block and single OHC RS heads.
The EJ255 really weighs as much as a EJ20? Are all the exterior demensions the same? I would expect any of the EJ25's to big physically bigger than the EJ20, or EJ22.

Well the weight difference doesn't really come from the blocks themselves. The exterior dimensions of the EJ25 and EJ20 blocks are basically the same. It's all the extra hardware the turbocharged models have.
