Default Hesitation issues/Black box?..GC8

Hello,
I have a couple questions for you pros.

I have a hesitation between 3000 and 4500. I feel it in second and third. What it does is slow down and the pic right back up after that 4500 mark. Feels like VTEC!..I hate that. What do you guys think that is?

Also i was fortunate to get hit the other day in the back. On the right side under the rear bumper there is a black box with wires coming out of it. Is this for the fuel? By the way this is the side I got hit on

Thanks Nick

You should try the Grounding mod it might solve your hesitation issue.
The black box is for emission control.

yeah, I had the hesitation BAD on my 2.2.....lots of people have it. I did the grounding mod, cheap and easy, seemed to help a lot at first, then it kinda came back. But certainly not nearly as bad. Its cheap, looks good, and can't hurt, so try that.

Do the grounding mod. I do believe that it works. I was skeptical that it actually solved the problem in the beginning or if it was all in my head.

recently my hesitation returned, and the other day i was looking at the engine bay and i noticed that one of the grounds had come off. I replaced it and the hesitation seems to have gone away again.

or you could try just resetting the ecu.

That black box is a charcoal cannister, I beleive. It is used for emissions, to allow gas vapors to vent while not being as bad for the environment. There was a thread going on about removing it a while back, but I can't find it now.

You might want to check with your dealership and see if your vehicle falls under the ECU recall I received last year. They reflashed my ECU and after that .. the hesitation was gone.
