Exclamation Speedvision goes RICE!

Anybody see that new series they had on Speedvision today? Mamma' Import something or other. They had guys down at the NOPI show in Atlanta interviewing guys about their cars. This one car (a Del Sol) had the craziest paintjob ever. It was all red, yellow and blue with a big mural of some chick on the hood. Ever part of the car from interior to engine was colour matched. When the guy asked the owner about 'powerplant modifications' she said and I quote... "Oh nothing yet, I hope to do something with it in the future. Either a turbo or Nitrous is probably the most likely. That or something like a Chevy small-block" - THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAID!

Total spent on mods - $25,000 US
Amount of that spent on performence - $0 US

And this is on Speedvision??? Where's the speed?

Thumbs down

Yeah, I saw that... it was funny watching that lady with the mid 90's Civic DX. She said she had a "hybrid" motor because she had the intake from the 1.6L on her stock (well, except for the pretty sparkplug wires and the chrome valve cover) SOHC 1.5L! The announcers had to finish up almost every car with "well, at least it looks fast!"

Oh, & I couldn't believe that lowrider Accord sedan... the 4 point harnesses were attached to someplace under the front seat! It looked like they wrapped around the entire seat. I hope he never uses them!

if speedvision is not showing BTCC or Rallying (FIA or otherwise) they have an awful lot of crap on there. to be honest, i would rather watch a show on stickered hondas then another "these here are dale ernhart's real life drawers" infomercial. or... i could go outside and DO something.

m8 speaks the truth! I usually check their weekly schedule and tape everything. There's way too much filler programming inbetween shows that I'd like to watch.

Another thing that I would like to see on Speedvision is autocross coverage. I know that they can't show local or regional events, but they at least could cover the nationals!

Speedvision good: rally races, gt cars, auto reviews and all road racing.

Speedvision bad: lawnmower racing, stickered cars, old WWII aircraft coverage, 30min fuel/oil additive infomercials, and all circle track racing.

Also:

Speedvision should show more dragracing and less tractor pulling.

Tractor Pulls bad!

Hey man... you ever seen how fast some of those lawnmowers get going? Those guys are nuts!

Course I can't speak for Speedvision... I don't get it here and wouldn't be able to afford the cable here that it does come on.

That's a good point M8 - why not show something that actually goes fast?! Like the JGTC and BTCC MORE OFTEN! The Speedvision review of the San Remo rally was just on yesterday (too bad for Burnsie)!

It would be nice if they would show some real racing, where the ground effects and wings actually produce downforce...

Oh man give me my Grand National powered mower dragster! Huge freakin rear tires (turf tires of course) with the turf tire wheely bars and skinny front tires. Man I tell you I'd be the coolest guy in the suburbs. I'd have to run straight pipes out the hood. No rollcage cause rollcages are for those sissies in NASCAR. The mower deck would still have to work though. I'd even throw some NOS to it. Sure we could still chain a couple of them together for those who like the tractor pulls. Whoever drags the other one across the street wins. Hmmm Mower-X?

I want to see more British Touring Car championships. Those wankers can drive. Rather than watching vibrating tooth brush commercials or magic tooth paste you rub on scratches and they go away. Unless they sup up those brushes. MORE POWER!!! Urg Urg Urg

The British Touring Car drivers are some of the most aggressive drivers that I have ever seen. I love it!

The touring cars are great. I love Motorsport Mundial. They show all kinds of neat sports:
Motorcycle Trials: people hopping bikes onto pipes, barrels, big ramps etc. cool.
DTM: German touring cars. The big horsepower version of the BTCC.
Rally: Who doesn't love this?
Truck Racing: You think the BTCC drivers are agressive. Try it with a heavy truck that can go from 0-100mph in around 7 seconds.

On that RiceFest Show. Did y'all notice how many cars had nitrous bottles behind the seats. Nice. Nothing like putting a bomb behind your back.

They care more about having people see the "cool NOS bottle" than weather it is safe. I am amazed by how many people rice the crap out of their cars. In my opinion if you don't have it under the hood, you don't have it at all. (man I have pissed alot of people off by saying that too!) I'm not trying to be mean, I just think that if you spend so much $$$ and effort on making your car LOOK fast, you should be sure that your car can back up that look. I would rather spend my money on making my car perform it's best. Just my opinion

Aggressive BTCC drivers? You haven't seen a JGTC race have you?

I like Motorsport Mundial too, it's the only show in the western hemisphere that shows the JGTC (very rare however), plus they show lots of other cool stuff. My favourite was the TT Challenge - http://r-m-i2.8m.com/audi_tt/ - check these cars out!

MORE COVERAGE OF CARS THAT TURN RIGHT AS WELL AS LEFT (@ over 100mph!)
