Have a Nice Day? This thing is driving me crazy! Anyone else, perhaps?

Okay,
So I got pretty much all the options on my scooby about a month ago. Its very nice car, but with it, I also got the armrest extention (for cell phone or keys, or whatever). It flows nicely with the leather interior, and its upholstered in leather itself. So i figured it was a plus. I did not notice this when I was driving the car at first and the sales guy said that this wouldn't even be possible at all. BUT! The problem is, my elbow is constantly resting on this stupid high extention, I cannot shift properly because my elbow is in the resting position. I drove my friends scooby without it, and even my own with out, NO PROBLEM. I guess I am some sorta freak because my elbow is always resting on it. Does anyone wanna swap the lids? I need a stock lid to fix this problem, this thing is uncomfortable. Email me at webmaster@altimas.net please.

You can try what I did before you try and trade. I just took off the lid of the extension, so I have a little tray basiclly. Then I put a pad where my elbow rests. Now it's at the perfect height for my elbow.

That's what you get for having monkey arms - My stumps fit the extended arm rest perfectly

I got my extension after I got the car and it definitely has its pros and cons.

What I do when I'm autocrossing or otherwise " doin' some serious drivin' " is just flip up the extender part to get it outta my way. It's heavy enough that it stays vertical.

Works great for me. It _is_ nice to have the extension on long trips

With my SYMS short shifter, I can keep my elbow on the arm rest and shift through all gears with my limber wrist...

Oh. That didn't sound right.

Hey, I love my armrest extender. I do think it might be cumbersome to tall drivers. It doesn't bother short guys like me I think Jim has the right idea, take off the lid. I leave mine open when I drive with my cell-phone headset.

I am 5'11" tall and average length arms. If I drive with the drivers seat reclined more than 3 notches it is in the way. If I only have it reclined 2 or less and move the seat a little forward and sit up streight it is not in the way at all.

I also have a short shifter and stock RS shift nob. If you have the stock shift arm or a solid shorter ball type nob. it will be more in the way.

Yeah, but I don't really go on long trips, and the extender just doesn't make the shifting feel sporty. I feel like I am driving my Altima I'm just gonna trade for a stock lid

The OBS shifter is longer, so the armrest extension doesn't get in the way; my arm goes over it while shifting. I'd like to put a shorter shifter on, but it seems to me that the armrest extension would be in the way.
