Default EJ22T Swap into MY99

For those with an EJ22T... Do you regret doing the legacy turbo engine instead of an EJ20?
How easy was the EJ22T swap?
What parts did you use?
Where'd you get the engine? How much?
How involved was wiring?
Any advice?

I would agree with the other people on the search function. You will come across many post that you can read. Here's my two cent on it:
I bought a 93 turbo sports sedan for my 96 legacy conversion. After about 3 months of searching and debating i finally convinced myself to get a 2.0 engine. Why? Several things. Performance parts are not easy to find for the 2.2, stuff like pistons, roads etc...
For what you'll pay to have a high milage engine rebuild on top of the cost to buy the motor you might as well get a 2.0 that runs with low milage. But then agian if you can find a great deal on one then that opens up a lot of options to you.
I just sold a complete package for 950 that included just about everything you needed to put in a 2.2.
There will be just as much work putting in this engine as there would be a 2.0 so you might as well do the engine you want to do first.

What? Thats not right.

Just to give you an idea, I just saw a 2.4liter WRX that was using the 2.2t block. The car looked TOTALLY stock, he was even still using the stock intercooler. Passed smog too. Used the WRX heads on it.

The same parts you use for the 2.0 are usually applicable to the 2.2 , give me an example of what doesnt fit? Hell even WRX headers and up pipes are a direct bolt on. I know because Im going to use some WRX headers and up pipe on my 2.2 turbo engine! Not only that but even a WRX sway bar on the legacy turbo cross member.

I went with the 2.2 b/c its nearly indestructible, and its widely agreed that the EJ22 and the EG33 are the best two engines that subaru has ever built. I also wanted to be different. WRX swaps into old school imprezas are a dime a dozen. To answer your first question, I dont regret it a bit.

As for your other q's-same as a WRX swap

just depends, some times you can get an entire 91 to 94 turbo legacy with damage for 900 bucks. most of the time you only find the motor for about 800 to 1100.
