Question EJ25T or EJ20TT

I've been thinking about getting some more power out of my '95 Legacy. So I think that i am going to swap out my EJ22E and put in either an EJ25T or an EJ20TT.

I already posted this question in the legacy forum but I'm just trying to get some more opinions. "Which Engine should i put in and why" I would like to know what people think about each engine in a more intimate and detailed manner. Does anyone know which would be better and why?

I think it would totally be awesome rollin' with a Twin Turbo but, i haven't found many aftermarkets parts to make them much faster on the other hand the EJ25T has a cashe of aftermarket parts that i have found to make it pretty equal to the 2.0 litre...

Give me some ideas PLEASE!!!

Do you mean EJ25T from a USDM STi or a normally aspirated EJ25 with an aftermarket turbo kit? The twin turbo won't fit without custom fabbing and isn't worth it.

Post Turbo

Twin Turbo isn't worth it?

Damn...

The EJ25T is out of the USDM STi?...Hmm, I was initially thinking the EJ25T but I wasn't aware that it came out of a USDM STi, that makes me aware of how hard that could be to get my hands on. So I guess that I am faced with trying to find an EJ25T or put an aftermarket turbo on an EJ25.

Am I right?

Now that i know this, what kind of options do i have to put a little more pep in my Legacy's step.

There's also an EJ25T from the Forester XT, I just wanted to know if you meant a factory turbo'd EJ25 or aftermarket.

go with the ej22t its for a legacy already ,it has a fully closed deck
,wich will handle lots of boost ,its bigger and stronger than a wrx motor ,The forester motor is nice but uses a drive by wire system
,its supposed to real PITA to get wired up, it all depends how much cash you want to throw at it

if you want to get the ej20TT to work then you are oging to have to spend about 40 hours with a welder. i hope you can weld!

i did the ej22T and its a good motor. i am happy i did it. but if you have it done make sure they wire in the ecu at the same time.

dont just get the motor put in and run it with your old ecu until you can get the turbo ecu put in. have it all done at the same time.

Default EJ22T

Well I'm not too sure how much money i want to throw around, i was thinking that i would do my homework before do any definite budgeting for it.

As far as the Engine goes, I was hoping to do a fatoried turbo since it would be much cheaper than buying an engine AND an aftermarket turbo, I was talking to a "parts specialist" that works at the capitol Subaru dealership and that goes to the qym I hit up on the off-season of school, and he was telling me that an EJ20T would probably be the best route.

This Subaru specialist was telling me that the EJ25 owns the "land AND speed" record by running 100K miles for 100mph before having any problems. That alone really makes me love the idea of puting a 2.5 litre in there but, getting an aftermarket turbo just seems like it would be a pain in the butt...

and yes Subiekid I can weld i've probably spent more time with a welder than i have driving my car
