Post Was i kidding myself?

Haven't posted in a while...not even a chance to read. Anyways, the other night i was running around in my car to get feed when i noticed that porsche headlights (new boxstr/911 style) coming up behind me... the road dead ends and both lanes turn right into a hill..

so i turn and gun it in third. turbo spools and overboosts a little (0.6bar) and i'm off. the porsche hung with me but slowly slipped back up the hill. i reached the crest of the hill at about 80somethingish. was this guy really racing? i know i was 100%, and would like to think that i can outdrag a boxster (i have no delusions of it being a 911), but i dunno...them things are light and have good torque too.

just wanted to ask..cause that should mean on a cool dry night, i'm making close to 230-240hp, right?

I don't know what your setup is but I'm sure that is a "do"able number in the scooby. Are you talking at the wheels or the hp the engine is producing?

That is not a Porsche, that is Accord or civic, changed the headlight, just wanna look like something else. You know how they are.

Just kidding

if is a boxster, I think is "do"able.

Cylinders 6; Liters 2.7; Fuel Induction 24V SFI; HP 217; Torque 192.
Munber speaking you win.

actually i wouldnt be too surprised in this case, weighing as much as your car the new Boxster S has a 250HP H6... coupled with a 6-speed i think he could be more than a good match for a turbo scoob, especially if it wasnt from a standstill

The 911 is 2920lb and 300HP, or 3032lb for the Carrera 4.

Either of those versions would give a turbo 2.5RS a good run.

Most likely the driver made the difference.

EDIT: welcome back Bassem.

Well ColinL, he said it wasn't a 911. If it was a Boxster S, they do sixty in about 5 1/2 seconds. With that cars aerodynamics and power, it could be hard to keep up with at speed.

I know that with a Minnam Stage II Turbo, you can beat 911 Turbos in a drag race

Sorry inzomniak, but I'm gona have to call BS on that one. There is no way an impreza with a minnam stage II or any other turbo kit(by itself) for that matter will beat a 911 turbo. They are really really fast, 60 in under 4 seconds and a 1/4 mile in under 12 seconds on a good run. You'd have to do a lot to the impreza to get in the 911 turbo range. An Impreza with just the stage II turbo kit would probably loose to a regular 911, it would be raped by the Turbo.

Thanks Colin

yeah, like i said, i have no delusions of it being a 911, and if it was, perhaps he wasn't even trying!

thanks for the input guys.

the kit is a minnam stage II w/3"cat back btw, but the wastegate is set at 5psi..but i always overboost to 7 or so psi (0.5 bar) and when i hit the throttle too quick i get to 0.6 for a good chunk of time. my egt hasn't gone over 1450F, so i guess i'm safe eh?

adam99rs said that with minnam stage his best time was 12.68 seconds i belive.

911 turbo has 0 to 60 of 3.8 seconds nad a qm of 11.9seconds!!!! fast as *****

sorry but ull need more than just a stage 2 minnam trubo kit to hang with that, but i belive its very doable.

Heh, I live in Vancouver where Minnam is. In fact, my friend's Godbro works at Teknik Motorworks, which has merged with Minnam recently.

If you didn't know, Teknik is renowned for the work they do on Porsches... they 'soup' up Porsches... so.... yeah...

That's why he told me... BS or not.... I'd think they know
