Question a burning smell?

i have a 2000 accord ex v6 and for about the last two weeks i have been noticing a burning smell coming from my car. it smells kinda like plastic. i can also smell it when im driving either when i have the windows down or thru my vents but the smell is very faint. if you could tell me what the smell could possibly be i would appreciate it

If you use the seach option you may find what you need. This topic has come up several times and it depends on what kind of smell--sulfur, ???? Look under search, it's a wealth of knowledge.

More than likely it's the cosmoline they put on the motor. Subaru's are famous for the smell, well not all of them but when you have one that smells you sure do know it. I don't know about Honda's though. How many miles are on it? You are probably just working that squirrel in there way to hard. He is probably burning up his exercise wheel. I'm just kidding about that one. I had to take the shot. I mean it was right there in the open. If you don't have very many miles on it talk to the dealer about it. Maybe they can do something for you.

Yeah with that mileage if it is any real problem they should cover it. So I guess that is good news. Whoever told you about the plastic pieces near the cat could be right. I don't know how honda's are set up. On a suby the only thing close to the cat is the O2 sensor. But it really could be just about anything. Try taking it to a shop and see what they say. A good shop should not charge you anything just to look at the car. Good luck with it.
