The adventurers have to find the secret enemy, the Pink Queen - Lachlan, who is turning the world gay.

Seriously though...

Adventurers roll into town because of reports of abductions and weird crap going on. Blah blah stuff happens ... leads them to a large manor run by a creepy old guy. They investigate, he turns out to be clueless, but his butler is some powerful wizard. Going into the basement there is a secret passage to caves. Bad stuff happens. They kill the bad guys, get gold and win. Yay.

Other possble story lines (other than hunting for a woman, as she will surely kill and eat your entire party) that have a chance at succeeding...

The ogres finally figured out how to make gummy bear juice, and you must stop them from doing so.

The dark overlord of the land is actually your son and it's time for you to confront him.

Grr... can't remember any more cartoons at this time. Crap.

Umm....

A spider demon has figured out a way to drink the life force of the world. You must stop her before she succeeds. Several of your party members will be killed this way and the spider demon inherits their powers.

Princess toadstool has been... oh wait that's been done.

Your queen has been captured by band of super smart orcs.

Bob barker has gone missing. There hints that orges ate, but not possitive. The world will fall into chaos if the price is right does not return to the air soon.

No, they don't KILL the bad guys... they capture the wizard and pull off his mask to reveal Mr. Farnsworth, the creepy caretaker of the amusement park who was staging the abductions to scare away tourists. And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you meddling elves.

anything involving drow and mind flayers. that = the cool

I really Sorbee's idea of the creepy house with the old suspicious guy, but the mastermind if the house servant who uses the old guy as a pawn to control the town. When you chase him down, you follow him into the basement where you find a passage in the rocks to the underdark. There you find a small sect of mindflayers who control HIM. Then you bring in some drow, spiders, Lolth and you have a full blown storyline

A town somewhere...
In the forests near the town lies a small area called the forest of crystals, which have an outcropping of crystals of unknown origin, but very hard, and can be used for jewelry and tools and weapons and such, and are also believed to have much magical potential in storing life energy and magic. At the heart of the forest of crystal is one giant piece, around which a Druid a Grove is constructed, where the druids protect the area from the greed of the townsfolk, and carefully limit howmuch if any of the crystal is taken. That giant piece in the center lies directly on a major ley line node, ley lines being the veins through which the world's life and magic energies flow...

lately however, the crystals forest is under constant attack, the druids are being overwhelmed, the crystals stolen... they only assume the town itself is responsible and as a result have begun launching their own counter attacks by sending bears and wolves and such to besiege the town, ruining the town's crops, etc.

Now in the town... people in the slums district are disappearing like crazy, but the heads of the town have shown little care because they are mostly homeless beggars, and they have their hands full with the druids... at the heart of the problem is a necromancer, who using the crystals, steals the life energies of his victims to extend his own life, and then with the carcasses has meat to create an undead army.

okay so this isn't that good but I tried in 5 minutes

You kinda have to be a bit more specific. Levels, races, classes involved. Is this a one off, or the beginning of a campaign? In general picking a character for the plot to center on is a good plot device. If they are high level and you want to spice things up, artifacts are usually a good thing to center on. The machine of Lum the Mad is usually good to mix things up. Vecna's various dessicated pieces parts are a good one too... Like I said, sort of depends. Best advice I can give you is throw them into an environment that they are unfamiliar with. Underwater, plane hopping, or dimension hopping (ala Rifts) is pretty fun too. It all sorta depends... The real trick to being a good GM though is interesting characters. If you can come up with interesting characters for them to interact with you're all set. Some of my inventions:

Slorg: 1/2 Ogre Barbarian, 19 Str, 17 dex, 3 intelligence, 18 wisdom. Famous for suddenly spouting things like "Slorg always say, penny saved is penny earned! Why Slorg say that anyway?" He subsequently traded all his gold for some colorful beads and pieces of string the party had on them... All you need to do is keep a little cheat sheet of wise sayings (Benjamin Franklin was a personal fave) to interject occasionally and you're good.

Bosco and Cocoa: Bosco is a Magic User with a hand puppet. The hand puppet (Cocoa) is actually a cursed artifact that contains the essence of an evil sorcerer of substantially higher level than Bosco. Bosco however has a fairly good will and much like magic swords, cocoa can be influenced by will rolls. Bosco is chaotic good, Cocoa is Chaotic Evil. Watch a Robin Williams stand up performance from back when he was doing drugs and you'll have pretty good template for the character's manic behavior...

Heh, I'm playing NWN also, when I first read the thread I wasn't sure if he was talking PnP or NWN.

If you guys like hardcore roleplaying, hit me up on PM and I'll give you some amazing Player Worlds. If you're more of the type that like hack'n slash and being uber, then you can play on basically any other NWN server and have a blast.

I have NWN, but I don't have the expansion yet. I've been looking for some decent RP servers, preferably with a DM and a regular group to play with. I got sick of online gaming and the random schmucks involved with Everquest.... and after playing NWN a few times online with random strangers, it reaffirmed that. I'd love to get in on a good RP type game with some of you guys sometime.

Damn you I can't afford the expansion right now, really. I just sent a check to somebody for an uppipe yesterday, and my credit card bill this morning, and I still want to get ESPN NHL for Xbox

I'll get in on your games sometime, though
