Default Swap underway-cooling system question

I am currently in the process of swapping a USDM EJ205 engine into my 1998 RS coupe and I have a few questions.
I have plans to upgrade to a modest 250-260whp,nothing too crazy but I want reliablity

Should I upgrade the radiator as it has alot of miles on it and was looking a little tired? What options do I have, would a stock WRX or RS rad do the job fine? Shoudl I upgrade and to what ?
What other mods can I do to make sure the engine stays extra cool under hard driving?

Thanks

The stock rs radiator is not the best tool for the job. If you can swap in a wrx radiator that'd be better, i've heard maybe just the fans will work without modifying it, not sure. You could always get an aftermarket one. Good luck.

The EJ205 engine will sit closer to the radiator fans, but I think it will all fit. If you select an aftermarket GC/GM radiator then all you will have to deal with is the thicker core and the extra radiator cap. If you go for anything for the GD/GG then then the upper radiator mounts will be different and you will have to do some fab work.

The RS radiator core is 16mm thick, where the WRX core is 27mm thick. I personally have a 38mm WRX radiator sitting in my basement.

Thanks,

I will invest in an aftermarket rad unless I get a WRX rad cheap.
Any suggestions on make or supplier.
I live in Toronto,Canada so availablity may be an issue.

What do you suggest??

The only GC/GF radiator that is readily available is the C&R radiator from kastleskorner.com. Anything else like the MRT or Koyo will be special order and unavailable.

Hi, I've completed my EJ205 swap and have been thinking about what to do for more cooling as well. Well here is my plan. I will run a FMIC and in place of the TMIC I will place an oil cooler, I also am looking to buy a performance GC radiator or even a GC WRX radiator.
Well that's my plan of action.
Take it easy, Micah
