Default I'm the only Legacy!

Ok. so for those of you who don't frequent the Mid-A forum.... there is a Subaru Challenge coming up in Richmond, VA. Well, it just so happens that I am the ONLY Legacy that has registered for this weekend.

Completely stock, except front endlinks and catback exhaust... so I guess we'll see if I get owned, or can hold my own. First ever autoX for me too..

Whaddya know, I'm the only Legacy at the Laurens SC event. In HS no less... There are only 2 other cars in h-stock other than myself, and they are both imprezas.

I think I saw WAFlowers listed for the Florida event in his Legacy. Not sure if there were any others. I went to the Texas event. It's kinda cool being the only Legacy in a big sea of WRX's, and a somewhat smaller sea of Impreza's. The only other Legacy at the Texas event was an Outback sedan.

If you've never autocrossed before, prepare to get whooped pretty soundly, unless everyone else in your class are novices as well. Then it's a fair fight. Remember to pump your tires' air pressure up toward the max recommended pressure, to help keep the sidewalls from rolling over. The actual pressure for best performance depends on your tire. If you can, ride with someone once or twice so you can get a feel for what's going on. One of the things that seems to get most people when they're starting out is the tendency to try and go too fast. If the corner needs to be taken slowly, you need to slow down for it. More speed doesn't always equate to faster times. You can add one to two seconds per corner if you overdrive each one. Trust me... I still struggle with it.

Have fun guys. Show them Subaru-come-latelys that there is more than just the WRX.

Unfortunetaly, the rules prohibit anyone from riding along unless they are novice instructors. So I hope to get an experienced person to ride with me on this, and help me out a bit.

For people that are aprehensive in taking their cars out on the Autocross course, don't be. It's a lot of fun. Legacy's do well against WRX's when driven properly.

Here's an example of some of the fun you can have at an autocross course..

You don't know about it..

I would go if my car was in decent working order.

unfortunately, I don't think my suspension, poor tires, and CEL would really like being tossed around on an Auto X course. Maybe if my legacy dies, and I get the 99 Outback wagon I want....

I don't think my 115k miles suspension, and cheapo Cooper all season tires are going to care much for the auto X either.. but I don't care what they want. I am more than happy to wear both of them out right quick, and give me a good reason to buy new parts.

It's this weekend, the 27th. According to Mapquest, there are 2 Potomacs in MD, so I'm not sure which on you are, but I'm going down from Columbia friday night. It's a couple hours away...about 140 miles.

Well, I wasn't the only Legacy at the event. There was one other,a '95 L. However, he put on the same wheels as the GT, and that bumped his class out of stock.

I, however, got 1st in H stock(there were only 3 of us.)

It's a '96 L and I got my ass whooped in STS.

Nice meeting you though, and great job on your runs.

Thumbs up

Good to see the Legacy brethren showing up for those events! It's nice to be different, even among the Subaru crowd.

I can't tell you how pissed I was. Stupid Baltimore Brewing Company CANCELLED their little festival due to the "possibility of rain." In other words, "Oh, um, we don't have the money to pay you all and, since you were too nice to make us sign a contract, we're pulling the plug." Friday this went down. I didn't find out until that evening.......too late to head down to Richmond and represent with you guys.
