Default Why do people buy SDR Rotas?

I know they are cheap and light, but they look pretty bland, and for the price, they can't be that great. Is there any reason they are so popular with the Subaru crowd?

They are copies of the Prodrive PFF-7's or the GC-07D's I can't remember which. That is why people buy Rota's, becuase they are cheap knockoff's of more expensive original designs.

Some people like a clean looking rim. Not everyone likes chrome or fake bolts on a wheel.

I almost bought a set, but I have the other boring wheel, Rota Attacks.

Rota's are good wheels, don't let the price fool you.

Thanks for the responses. I've figured most of the people I've seen who are buying them for their STi's plan to use them with winter tires. That's what I plan to do.

but whatever you do, don't get rotas in the 'gunmetal' color, as that finish isn't all that durable. even with my careful cleaning, the paint had chips all over the place.

Default It's all SubyDude's fault

SubyDude is practically giving these wheels away. I got a set of 17" Rota Tarmacs for $430 shipped plus lugs (group buy). I could not resist. You just can't find wheels for that cheap that look as nice as Rota's. Plain and simple Save your money for other mods unless you just have to much money in the first place. If that is the case then just go Prodrive.

JC

PS. There are not a lot of winter tires made in 17" unless you want to pay out the arss

Thumbs up Re: Why do people buy SDR Rotas?

The SDRs are nice, simple wheels. The 7 spoke design really shows off big brake kits, etc. They are relatively light, hubcentric, and strong. Anyone who spends twice as much for a lesser wheel has got egg on their face!!! =)
