Default brake weirdness...

Does anybody get a weird sensation when they let off the brakes?

When I'm at a stop light and I have the brakes applied and then let them off, it feels like the rear of the car gets lowered 2-3 inches as the pedal is released and they unclamp. It's a hard sensation to describe.

I just want to make sure nothing is broken, worn out, or about to fail catastrophically.

my rear brakes are subaru 2pots, if that makes any difference.

thanks.

How quickly does your car move off the line with no throttle applied Steve? It is an auto correct? Meaning the car doesnt move forward and drop the rear suspension as the brakes are released does it? My momz had an car at one point that did that.

That sounds like what it does if you start to drive off with the parking brake set. You realize it, stop, release the brake, and the rear end drops as it lets go. I wonder if the rears are adjusted too tight/close? Feel the wheels after you've been driving around. Are the rears hotter than the front? That would indicate dragging brakes.

Just a wild guess...

That sounds like what happens when you brake torque. If you have an AT, then hold down the brake pedal with ur left foot and rev the gas a little, the back drops pretty hard and then comes back up when u let off the brake.

yes, it's an AT.

*ducks*.

I was wondering if it might be something like that.

My fear was that it might be something like stiction or a blow shock or damper. My old air/oil shocks on my mountain bike always got a lot of stiction when they blew.

So should I treat this as normal?
