Are you looking for an apartment or house? I know my apartment complex is hella pet friendly.. there are lots of people with dogs.. some even have multiple dogs. The rent for my 2 bedroom/2 bath is $985/month (rising to $995/month next year). The apartment is away from the main student apartments so few people actually know about it. Most of the tenants are non-students. The apartments are newly remodeled (but still not as nice as the newer apartments.. not even close). There are a few problems though.. the walls are PAPER thin, and they are doing contruction next to the apartments, kicking up dirt on everyone's car(no carports YET).

a good thing is that my apartment complex doesn't follow that RIDICULOUS Davis rule that everyone's lease expires/starts on the EXACT SAME DAY! for EVERY other apartment complex! So EVERYONE in the dam area ends up moving on 1 day in august!! How stupid is that?

Anyway, my apartment complex address is 3000 Lillard dr., Davis, CA 95616 and is called Renaissance Park. I don't have the phone # right now, but can get it for you later today.

oh yea.. the apartment complex is really close to UC Davis..

Thanks Beef -
We just called and they said the dog had to be less than 25 lbs... drat. I think we're going to end up subletting something at the Trees, until we can find a duplex or something in September. Do you know that place at all... it's west, and I'll be working over at the neuroscience center (east), but it's a small town.

Hi Taxcider,

You can get a Housing Viewpoint on campus to look for a place. It has lots of apartment info within the Davis area.

I had some friends with the same problem. Going to school, but the dog was not allowed most places. They ended up buying a house for $128k. So, it is possible to find a place.

Post Housing longshot... Davis area?

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum (o/t instead?). My fiancee and I are relocating to Davis (I recently scored a post-doctoral position at UCDavis), but we're having big(!) trouble finding a dog-friendly place to live. Any tips would be hugely appreciated... we're scouring the Davis Enterprise, etc... we're moving in July. We're trying to stay closer than Sacramento because I won't own a subie for a while. Thanks a lot, and sorry if the forum is wrong!

Cool

I suggest contacting King Properties or Collegetown Realty. They have a lot of listings and deal with a lot of non-student-renting properties. I would move fast since school just wrapped up.

Davis is pretty dog-friendly and I highly recommend the South Davis or East Davis areas for dogs. Just a tip!

thanks!

I'll try collegetown... king has nothing under a couple grand monthly - we're trying to keep it right at a thousand if possible. No panic yet...

Finding a house in Davis for 128K is close to impossible. Average house around here is ~400K i hear..
